On Jan. 3, 2019, the last day before the Republicans turned control of the House back to the Democrats, the debt closed at $21,929,258,046,653.58.
So, under the Republican House majorities in four Congresses, the debt climbed $7,915,209,003,359.17.
Simple view -
These are the same Reupublipukes who couldn’t couldn’t find a few billion for a wall.
As bad as the Democrat House.........
They really are past their sell date.
What would be the effect of eliminating immigrant welfare (legal & illegal) on the rate of increase? Work for welfare among the able bodied citizens?
How did Republicans do in controlling the debt during that limited time when they held all three elected branches of the federal government?
The Republicans controlled the House, Senate and White House for a span of 714 days, which equals 102 weeks or just two weeks short of two full years.
One of the poorer articles I have read. It would have been much more effective if they had done a “compare and contrast” (if any contrast) to the Obama administration.
Don’t forget cutting the ‘non-essential’ govt. employees...
Public debt of the United States from 1990 to 2018

(Not including unfunded liabilities)
Great article. Shows how their debt rate increased during the trump two year period, despite record income. Record income and they pissed it all away.
America is lost.
See you are using an ancient method to determine facts. Called math.
but do they want progress?...do they want reasonable budget?.....well, no...
Look who was speaker during that time though. Two RINO’s; Boner and Cryin’ Ryan.
Basically there has been little political will to solve the debt and deficit crisis. Just keep printing more phony baloney money.
I am no fan of Obama, but at the end of the day, does Obama’s disgraceful behavior excuse the behavior of the DC Republicans?
Making our great nation fiscally insolvent is a very effective way of destroying it, and the DC Republicans continue to be willing accomplices.
This is a disgrace. Republicans bill themselves as the party of fiscal responsibility...and when they control the House, where ALL bills to spend money originate, they keep doing the same as the Dems. Truly, they are 2 wings of the same uniparty. DISGUSTING!!!
Someday, we will have to pay the piper on this. I believe that this year, for the first time, interest on the debt will exceed military spending...and this is with interest rates being fairly low! The debt MUST be paid - and it is either by literally paying it off, or via inflation (which is, essentially, grand theft from anyone holding dollars). Neither is good for the economy, neither is fair at all...and, apparently, the Republicans don’t give a rat’s ass any more than the Dems do. DISGUSTING!!!!
The huge continued influx of illegal immigrants into our country that tap the treasury of free benefits will be the final nail. That new currency will finally be dispersed.
In the run up to the 2008 election, W Bush had been in a stalemate with Congress over the budget. He was refusing to sign the one they wanted. When obama was sworn in, he quickly accepted the budget offered by the new democrat congress. The budget year begins in October, so the increased deficit officially belonged to WBush. Obama made sure to accept the $700 billion bailout before the end of September too. Both deals served to increase the baseline deficit and inflate Bush numbers. That would allow the Kenyan to return to increased budget levels while also getting to crow about cutting the deficit.
Since republicans are all too happy to get along with democrats, there was never another budget signed during obama, so continuing resolutions funded the government. $1 billion deficits were baked in.
$wamp
As bad as the Democrat House.........

Actually worse in some respects. We know who the Dems are and what they want. The GOP on the other hand are a bunch of deceivers who say one thing and do another. They are treacherous backstabbers.
We need a new party that will advance the conservative agenda. The GOP will never be that party.
