Poland took another step towards weening itself off Russian energy supplies on Wednesday by signing a 20-year agreement with San Diego-based Sempra Energy to import U.S. liquefied natural gas.

In the coming years, Warsaw plans to replace Russian gas with pipeline supplies from Norway and shipments of LNG, or gas super-chilled to liquid from for transport by sea.

This is a big deal," said Assistant Secretary Francis Fannon, who heads the U.S. State Department's Bureau of Energy Resources. Fannon told CNBC's "Power Lunch" that Poland is "stepping up and answering the call on energy security" for Europe.

Does Poland know that LNG on ships is a magnet to terrorism?

All we need now is for China to sign a few billion dollar, long-term contracts with US gas supply companies. LNG is the preferred fuel of the future.

We have no stronger ally in Europe than Poland. I wish Trump would undertake a tour of eastern Europe to highlight the friendship and our commitment to their freedom. The Baltic States, Poland, Hungary, Austria and Italy, all countries interested in freedom and self preservation.

I would love to see our German bases and soldiers stationed in Poland, its closer to the action and Poland says they will pay for the bases and troop redeployments.

Also, its much cheaper to pay in Polish currency and our soldiers could enjoy what would be a boost in pay due to the lower cost of living.

I’m a Polak. If it’s that cheap I can move there. Don’t have to work. Where should an American live?

Many Pols have their SS check sent to Poland and live a nice life in their beautiful country. The Irish do this too.

If you know the language and love the people, your family’s people its a great life. Poland has common sense not to allow the Muslim horde to invade and change the character of Poland like the rest of the EU dummies have ruined a good thing in their lands.

I wish you many years of Polish happiness. The only language I took in school besides English was French and we see they are not very happy in Gay Parrie.
