Nancy Pelosi said on Thursday that a House committee will “take the first steps” toward obtaining President Trump’s tax returns once Democrats take control of the House.
Pelosi, who is expected to become the Democrats’ next speaker of the House, said the process could be “challenging” as Trump has vowed to resist their requests.
“There is popular demand for the Congress to request the president’s tax returns,” Pelosi told reporters.
“I’m sure the White House will resist, so the question is, ‘Where do we go from there?’”

If Trump’s tax returns are blessed by the IRS, as they evidently have been in the past, after much scrutiny, then maybe she should go after the IRS.
They has to be a law, somewhere, that makes her political persecution of Trump over his tax returns a crime.

Almost certainly to court were I would assume Congress would have to show cause for why they need the tax records.

All I'm saying is, the Democrats will only inspire normal Americans to push back harder at the ballot box, if they continue with their insane and threatening behavior.
Donald Trump was elected as a direct response to the excesses and destructive behavior of Obama. Prior to that, the Democrats lost over 1,400 elections between 2010 and 2016, all because of their radical, unhinged leftism.
It logically follows that more of the same (and worse) behavior, will result in more losses for the Democrats.

I hope you are right, but Dems seem to be in a rebound mode right now. They are benefiting significantly, I think, from the 95% negative press coverage.
