The Westford Select Board says they cannot remove the sculpture as it is considered public art. WCAX-TV, 9:50 AM

WESTFORD, Vt. (AP) — A man says he built a massive sculpture of a middle finger off a Vermont highway to show the local government how he really feels.

Ted Pelkey tells WCAX-TV he spent $4,000 on the sculpture near Route 128 in Westford.

“Where is there a very conservative state anymore?”

Wyoming and Idaho for now.

However, my customers in Idaho say that everyone moving there is from California and Washington.

Vermont has always had Constitutional Carry, since before we became the 14th State in 1791.

We were in our favorite little restaurant in the NE Kingdom, sitting at the bar, and the owner came out with his newest acquisition. All the rest (six or seven people) at the bar pulled out their carry weapons. The guy on the end, from NY, was visibly shaken.

It’s a constant source of amusement to us up here when a Sheriff or State trooper pulls somebody over and the first question is ‘Do you have any firearms in the vehicle?’

A prior comment of urinal (i.e. “piss-pot”) was rather fitting...for Paul Bunyan. That’s a woman standing at its base.

This sounds like the late Robert Rimmer who was a big noise back in the 60’s and 70’s. In the words of one encyclopedia ‘ The recurring theme in all or almost all of Rimmer’s writing was a criticism of the assumption of monogamy as a societal norm. They explore various ways of organizing life, through laws or other means, to facilitate non-monogamous relationships.’

Specifically it appears you are combining the plots of ‘The Harrad Experiment’ and ‘Prop 31’. Rimmer was blessed with the ability to spin even an outlandish tale into plausibility and he wrote with an easy fluid style.

Well, it’s right next to a liberal pit of a city.

Fitting. Worse, the money went to an artist in Portland.

Thank you, that matches. I remembered a college name beginning with ‘h’ but could not retrieve it.

Harrad was a combination of Harvard and Radcliffe. However while some of the characters came from wealthy backgrounds none were consumed with (a) networking their way to Congress, (b) becoming a hedge fund manager or (wanting to be some god like being to command the swinish multitudes. Very unlike Harvard types other than wanting to screw a lot.

Al Goldstein, Founder of Screw Magazine, lived on the intercoastal waterway in Pompano beach.

He had a giant statue of the one finger salute in his backyard, facing the intercoastal, for all the boaters to enjoy.
