Now you are really sounding silly. I knew the home was in an HOA because I was looking for an HOA. I read the documents and agreed with the restrictions. I did my research and made my purchase fully understanding the terms, like an adult, not a whiny lazy baby. Only morons or snowflakes plunk down a bunch of cash and sign 45 documents without reading them and understanding them.

If you are trying to argue that you entered into the HOA contract just because you wanted an HOA, you are being silly and still yet do not understand what you signed. You signed the HOA contract as part of the closing on your house. It was NOT optional. In my opinion it's best to actually consult an attorney before buying into an HOA community. When you purchase Realestate in an area with a mandatory HOA the contract is not optional. You seem to think people are just signing stuff and then complaining they didn't know. That is false. Most buyers today full well understand the one sided contract they are being forced to enter into due to bad HOA laws. The problem is these parasites have taken over most all new home developments in many states and finding a new home without one is nearly impossible in most areas. So when you say just don't buy a home with an HOA that's like Obama saying "you can keep your doctor". It's simply not an honest statement. The good news is people are well onto this scam but changes to a corrupt system and bad laws take time. This process however is well underway and the Mandatory HOA is on the way out of existence. Under no circumstances in the US under our constitution where we have the unalienable right to private property should a person be forced to enter into a contract with a third party as a condition to the purchase of Realestate. Most people get this but they sign these one sided contracts not because they want an HOA but because they want a new home. Mandatory HOAs is like government health care under the ACA , some understand its wrong and unconstitutional and some don't. Either way we are still having to deal with it. In Texas we have passed several powerful HOA reform bills and more is coming. I hope all goes well for you and the HOA but I would keep a close eye and stay engaged. I lived under one myself and would never do it again. Nothing really bad happened in our case but there were constant threats and complaints. Take care.
