King Corn is pushing a bogus ethanol “demand destruction” story. Don’t buy it

There’s been something of an underreported war going on between the ethanol lobby (King Corn) and the EPA for the past year. While President Trump has failed to entirely kill off the Renewable Fuel Standard, or even cut back on the amounts of ethanol that the government forces the energy industry to blend into the gasoline supply, the EPA has offered at least some small measure of relief in the form of waivers for smaller refineries of older design. But even that limited measure has enraged those profiting from this scheme. Now they’ve concocted a study which claims to show “demand destruction” in the ethanol market as a result of those waivers. One of their biggest lobbying groups has been pushing it out on Twitter this week.

CORN REPARATIONS

What gives Big Corn the right to destroy the people’s car fuel system, rendering the vehicle junk?

Car owners should demand restitution & reparations from farmers.

Yeah. I just raised 20 kids on a farm. Not a commercial enterprise, but we ate well and everyone learned what hard work was.

I don’t pretend I know a lot about farming, but I can recognize both corporate welfare and bovine excrement when I see it. Ethanol is a toxic mixture of both.

Not true.

BIG CORN is the Enemy of the People.

The ENTIRE Denver metro area has ONLY ONE pure gasoline station. Owners must store multiple gasoline cans of pure gasoline to dilute the junk at the pump. This makes big city neighborhoods a fire hazard.

Casey stores are RURAL. Casey pure gasoline options are Big Farmers flipping their middle finger to Americans.
We farmers in the country get safe gasoline.
You city folks must burn our trash.

Quite the Big Farmer SCAM !

My new Troy Bilt lawnmower will run on 10% ethanol gasoline. But I go to Wawa to buy ethanol free gasoline for it and now it runs like a monster. I put ethanol free in my automobile when I am nearby the Wawa.

Wawa is known for carrying zero ethanol gasoline.

There you go, brining facts to a FR ethanol hate-a-thon...

Meanwhile total engine miles continues to climb year by year to over 200,000 miles while being “destroyed”.

I put ethanol free regular in my 2015 F150 4x4 with the Eco V6. At 55 MPH it managed 30.9 MPG. At 80 MPH on the freeway, 23.9 MPG.

The irony is we can buy real gas here in Iowa. I don’t think I would live here if we couldn’t. I emailed my senators and rep to complain about ethanol, but I told them I knew my opinion didn’t matter compared to the corn lobby. Sad, but true.

I had a 2003 Nissan Altima that I switched over to Ethanol free gasoline. My MPG went up about 18%, and the cost of the fuel was about 25% more. That doesn’t factor in the benefits of no ethanol damage.
