Coastal cities could face bigger and more dangerous tsunamis thanks to global warming with even small earthquakes capable of unleashing killer waves, scientists have warned.
Researchers say that earthquakes which would pose no threat today could lead to cities being swamped by water as the sea level rises.
The researchers focused on the city of Macau in China, which is currently considered safe from tsunamis, despite lying in an earthquake zone.
But a three-foot rise in sea level would increase the risk of tsunamis inundating the city by up to 4.7 times, the researchers found.
Such a rise is predicted to occur in the area by 2060.
Lead researcher Dr Robert Weiss of the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University said, ‘Our research shows that sea-level rise can significantly increase the tsunami hazard, which means that smaller tsunamis in the future can have the same adverse impacts as big tsunamis would today.

I believe. Not because of actual changes in climate, but because of the hopelessness of believing that the planet is being destroyed and will be uninhabitable in your lifetime, combined with the Existentialist idea that this is all there is. When it’s over, you are worm food, dirt, star stuff.
Maybe a tsunami will save us from Californication since a tidal wave isn’t up to the task.

I think i’ll wait until 2060 before i start to worry about the fate of Macau ... besides, we’ll know for sure one way or another whether the sea rises by that much by then anyway, so no need to worry too much before then.
BTW, it’s been mathematically proven decades ago that the weather cannot be predicted accurately beyond 72 hours, no matter how much information is input into the weather models because such systems are too complex to predict even though completely deterministic ... just like it’s impossible to predict where every particle of baking powder winds up when mixed into cake flour, even if the position of every particle is known in advance ...
so it’s completely ludicrous to believe that “climate change” can be predicted for decades in advance, when even just weather change cannot be predicted beyond 3 days ...

the real problem with all of this fake science, and that includes the ridiculous theory of Darwinian evolution, is that the credibility of science in general is being eroded in the general population ... without a rational approach to thw world, too many fall prey to rank superstition ... of course, the leftist/Dems/progressives probably would view that as a positive because it primes the population to unskeptically accept whatever bullshit they’re promoting ...

Sea levels began to rise 18k years ago at the end of the last glacial period. They have risen about 135 meters since then which is an average of 7.5 millimeters per year. That is an average of 750 mm per century (29.5 inches) which is far more than the average over the last century.
From 1880 to 2000 sea level rose about 20 cm or just under 8 inches. Far less than the nearly 30 inches per century average over the last 18,000 years.
The most recent data from NASA shows a decline in sea level.
