I think that is exactly right.
Of course I get a lot of my info on FR and doubt if I would know if I only watched the mainstream media.
Let’s face it, the American intelligence community is horribly inept. If they allowed the Russians to meddle in our elections without doing anything to stop them shows just how inferior they are.
How can we be attacked at every turn from countries smaller and less tech savvy than us? Because we don’t have any one with intelligence in our intelligence community.
As for Dan Coats....his little double take at the forum may have been amusing for the audience, but it showed everyone that the president has no faith in him....he is outside the loop for a reason.
The frenzied furor and fomented outrage over President Donald Trump’s reluctance to express blind trust for our “intelligence community” defy reason and reality.
Aside from the fact that former CIA Director John Brennan does not even attempt to conceal his loathing of Trump, it was none other than Brennan who had the CIA spying on members of Congress—indeed the entire Senate Intelligence Committee. Surely, there were others in the Agency who helped him. How many like Brennan are still there?

I think the minute after the November elections are done you will see a lot of people getting fired. He has had a few years now to see how evil these never trumpers are.

The heads of the IC agencies and the DOJ are all Trump appointees and have been for at least a year.
At some point he has to take a little responsibility.
Going back 30ish years ago, the quick collapse of the Soviet Union was a huge surprise to the American intelligence community. So they’ve had issues for quite a long time, to add to some of the other shortcomings identified in thread comments.
There’s a problem. Where does the President go to find replacements that aren’t already or soon will be bought off by the Deep State?
Same problems with judges; sneaking in self-educated Constitutionalist here or there isn’t enough, but there’s no legal theory currently taught that produces real Constitutionalist candidates.
They are out there...Trump will know who to get....
