The West Point graduate, who last year posed in a picture holding a cap that had “Communism will win” written inside, is officially out of the U.S. Army with an other-than-honorable discharge. Spenser Rapone rocked the military community last year after his social media posts were revealed, showing him wearing a Che Guevara shirt underneath his military uniform.

He is no longer part of the U.S. military after top brass at Fort Drum’s 10th Mountain Division accepted his resignation Monday after an earlier warning for “conduct unbecoming of an officer.” He’s leaving the military with an other-than-honorable discharge.

This sounds like what we called "discharge in lieu of court-martial." One who has been charged may request discharge to avoid the more serious consequences of trial and sentence. He must have really effed up.

“West-Point-trained”

Not to split hairs, but West Point, while a first class educational institution, doesn’t “train” worth a damn. Nobody comes out of West Point with anything more than basic tactical and leadership training. Cadidiots (Cadet+idiot) leading Cadidiots for the most part

New Lieutenants don’t receive proper training until they attend their respective Officer Basic Courses, and don’t really learn something until a competent NCO gets ahold of them and shapes them into an actual leader.

However, former 2LT Rapone was prior service and served in a Ranger battalion, but didn’t go through Ranger School. It is reasonable to assume he can competently lead a tactical unit, which means we need to keep an eye on the Communist bastard.

Unless you are John Kerry, who most likely got a “dishonorable discharge” for protesting in uniform, then had it nullified because of Jimmah Carter’s general pardon. But he had his records sealed and never released them.

I understand what you are saying. But these days there are so many pussies running big corps that they will not worry about the discharge, but will look at the million dollar education he received.

It’s sad.

This guy should be living under a bridge.

"This guy should be living under a bridge."

That is too kind. This guy is a security risk. He should be hanging from a bridge.

New Lieutenants don’t receive proper training until they attend their respective Officer Basic Courses, and don’t really learn something until a competent NCO gets ahold of them and shapes them into an actual leader.

Officers commissioned through ROTC at Gonzaga had a leg up on their peers. We had a retired CSM that worked with cadets for at least 20 years. He was quiet for a CSM, but he knew how to get his point across, and he didn't put up with any half-stepping.

Another advantage we had was the small cadet corps, which rarely exceeded 100 cadets...my graduating class had less than 25, almost all of whom were together for four years. The bonds we established with each other have carried over the years.

I was also blessed that my first platoon sergeant was excellent. We hit it off immediately, and he became one of my best friends, to boot.

I'll never forget my first day on the job. A squad leader wanted an Article 15 for one of his soldiers, because he wasn't following orders. However, during my first meeting with the squad leaders about an hour later, he was throwing up excuses why his squad couldn't perform the tasks given to them for that week.

After they left, I asked my platoon sergeant, "let me see if I have this straight. This squad leader wanted one of his troops busted for not following orders, yet he was making excuses why he couldn't follow your orders."

With a big grin on his face, he said "LT, we're going to get along just fine."

“....Military experts say it’s rare for an officer out of West Point to receive an other-than-honorable discharge. Greg Rinckey, an attorney specializing in military law, claimed that this opens an opportunity for the military to seek money back from Rapone for the education he received as he didn’t fulfil the five-year service obligation for all the graduates......”

I hope they do seek money back for the education he recieved.

I felt sorry for the poor E-1’s or E-2’s who had to salute him. The noncoms and E-4 Mafia probably had ways to get around it.

The sad part is he’s already been to Afghanistan. He came to USMA, through an appointment as an Enlisted Soldier. He’s got a CIB. I think the Big Grey Monstaery on the hill needs to look internally especially within the Sociology or Middle Eastern studies faculty. Wondering if he was “turned” there..

“It means no VA benefits and will look terrible on any job application.”

Which translates into him being a loser on Welfare and Medicare and you and I paying for him for the rest of OUR natural lives.

Looks like he really IS a Commie, LOL!

This news has been out for at least a month but good to read it in the main stream media. BTW, that final salute you gave the Army Spesner is not as long lasting as the salute we gave you with the OTH discharge. See ya.
