BOSTON (CBS) – Senator Ed Markey is lashing out at the Trump Administration over its new “zero tolerance policy” for asylum seekers crossing the U.S./Mexico border.
“I call it barbaric,” said Markey after it was defended by Attorney General Jeff Sessions this week as “biblical.”
Markey says just in the last two weeks more than 600 children have been separated from their detained parents who are now being taken into federal custody. He’s proposing the Keep Families Together Act so children can be separated only if they’re being trafficked or abused by their parents, and only after consultation with child welfare experts.

I call Senator Ed Markey an annoying douche bag.
I’m a Christian, but I think Sessions really screwed that up. Quoting from the Bible to justify obeying the law? Did he really think that would work?
Great idea! Let families apply for legal immigration visas from their home countries. Either the whole family is approved and stays together, or the whole family is rejected and stays together. And illegal immigrants? Under a sensible "Keep Families Together Act", all illegals would be immediately deported, still as intact families. No exceptions.

I think dragging “Christianity” into the discussion at this level is a big mistake.
That way they don't have to be separated. ;
To expect another country to allow you entrance just because you showed up at that country's border is beyond ludicrous.
If this was stopped before it got started, then this problem wouldn't exist. Furthermore, it is up to their country of origin to provide for their 'general welfare' by accepting responsibility for them.
Markey’s solution is to put the kids in detention with other adults?
Not a single child has been separated from a family residing in Mexico or Central America by US authorities.
They got their marching orders & you know they’ll be using this crap in the upcoming elections.
GOP needs to hammer back but..they won’t. Trump only one calling them out.

Besides, Putin needs a good mouthpiece and with Markey’s career, he would instantly qualify. Let’s call him “Moscow Markey”.
Should not Markey be looking into how and why so many parents were detained? Should not he be recommending ways to stop the illegal flow of aliens?
What happens to children when their American parents are detained? Are they not separated? Is Markey demanding that we treat non-citizens better than our own?
Is Markey recommending that we have open borders? Is that not un-American?
