Manafort Sent to Jail After Judge Cancels House Arrest

Update: Paul Manafort is heading to jail, ahead of his trials for bank fraud and money laundering, Bloomberg News reports.

A judge in Washington revoked Manafort’s bail Friday after being told by Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s lawyers that Manafort, Donald Trump’s former campaign chairman, attempted to tamper with witnesses for his trial. Manafort has "abused" the trust placed in him six months ago, the judge said.

Previous report:

Paul Manafort could be locked up as soon as Friday if a judge agrees with Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s argument that he tried to tamper with witnesses while under house arrest.

Manafort, a former campaign chairman for President Donald Trump, arrived at the federal courthouse in Washington just before 9:30 a.m. He is accused of money laundering and acting as an unregistered foreign agent of Ukraine. But what could land him in jail as he awaits trial are new charges relating to witness tampering.

U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson will have the final say after considering arguments from Mueller’s team and Manafort’s lawyers. She could also impose more stringent bail terms than Manafort’s $10 million bond with electronic monitoring.

“She absolutely could lock him up,” said former federal prosecutor Courtney Oliva. “I think he’s got an uphill battle, and it’s likely he’ll get sent to jail. If he’s not, it’s because he’s not your run-of-the-mill defendant, and she’s just being very careful.”

The Manafort trial takes place beginning in September. The MSM will focus on it during the runup to the midterms. Mueller and his band of demonrats want the Dems to take over Congress to stop the investigations into Deep State and the Obama administration.

It is all about making sure another Trump doesn’t occur.

Agree, that seems to be the objective.

All:

And WHY was it necessary for Donald Trump to hire Paul Manafort and bring him into his campaign, at a very , very high price??

Who remembers?... The delegate THIEF in Chief— Ted Cruz.

Trump was winning nearly every state primary and Cruz was sneaking in afterward and either bribing, coercing, wrangling (call it what you may) Trump’s allocated delegates.

Ted was stealing the nomination from Trump and was going to continue all the way to the convention.

Cory Lewandowski had been doing an awesome job running the Trump campaign. But, he did not have the know how to deal with the opposing slime ball thieves of the Cruz campaign.

Manafort put an end to the bleeding of delegates; that was his #1 job. Paul succeeded in stopping the delegate theft about 90% of the time.

Without Paul Manafort, Cruz would have prevailed and then lost to the she-Beast.

We’d all be serfs to Hillary and Soros and co.

God help Paul Manafort, who owe him a depth of gratitude.

Even after all of the crimes the Clintons committed, the impeachment, the disbarment, the mass murder in Serbia, the influence peddling and bribery at the Clinton Foundation, etc., they won a majority of the votes last election day.

The KLINTOONS would be BACK in the WH and in CHARGE of this corrupt banana republic, only one man could stop them, a man named Trump.

Obama and his communist mafia committed treason at the highest levels, actively working to dismantle the US military and give our enemies nuclear weapons.

The Obama Clinton crime families are still obstructing justice with the full weight of the executive branch agencies and media supporting them.

This fantasy that the criminals in government will be taken down from within using the legal system is childish and embarrassingly naive.

History clearly shows that only a military supported purge which includes mass arrests, imprisonments, seizing of assets, and executions will put a dent in these still currently untouchable bastards.

I sincerely think Trump doesn’t have the stones to take the next step.

Time is wasting away, less that 150 days until the GOP loses the House, and then Trump is impeached.

THAT is what “Draining the Swamp” looks like.”

All I see is all talk and no action.

Manafort isn’t “Another innocent person”.

Manafort is entirely dirty. YOU ARE MISSING THE MAGICIAN’S HAND TRICK.

All of Manafort’s dirt came from his YEARS working alongside Fusion GPS and Podesta.

None of Manafort’s dirt came from his 49 days on the Trump campaign.

Yet notice how every news story ONLY mentions Manafort’s 49 days with Trump instead of his years with the Podesta’s.

But this is politically motivated, and it makes me angry.

Same here. Who knows what he’s done or what he’s guilty of - but the fact that they’re going after him full force is clearly politically motivated.

Compare to the full force they went after Hillary Clinton... oh, wait. Never mind.

I have no faith in our government anymore, or our “justice” system. None.

The Deep-State Marches on, but don’t worry, Trump said this morning Director Wray will bring back the FBI with ‘Pride’. Laughable.

Hopefully more & more normal Americans will see how the left is treated vs. those on the right. Two totally different standards of justice, law & order.

Granted, I think Manafort is a creep and a snake . . . but then so is Hillary et al and they are “free as a bird”.

This really sucks. God, I despise Mueller and his asshat team of vindictive gestapo thugs. Especially Weisman. He needs a serious physical beating. Bad.

Trump jettisoned Manafort unceremoniously due to Trump’s suspicion that Manafort was engaging in cash-based monkey business. (In his book Lewandowski and others had (IIRC) suggested they simply take away his ability to write checks for the campaign when the stuff began to surface before Manafort was fired and while the power struggle was still going on!)

Sure, in his book “Let Trump Be Trump”, it is clear that Lewandowski clearly had a personal axe to grind, but Lewandwoski remained on excellent terms with Trump even after being fired and continued to get a retainer paid from him for six months after he was fired, instead of the three months he had negotiated when he took the job.

Lewandowski thought that was quite generous.

Manafort has no such ongoing relationship.

Doesn’t make your assessment in any way inaccurate Beautiful_Gracious_Skies, and it does buttress the view of Trump as being a pragmatic can-do guy who was willing to take on an unsavory character to get an important job done.

As for Manafort’s personality and ethics, read Corey Lewandowski’s “Let Trump Be Trump.”

I don’t like seeing anyone being taken down by a Leftist witch hunt. But according to Corey, Manafort accomplished little for the Trump campaign, even in his supposed role as a delegate recruiter in the run-up to the GOP convention.

I got my strongest negative impression of Manafort from Lewandowsky’s book, and as I said in my post above, I do recognize he has an axe to grid due to the power struggle that Lewandowky eventually lost.

But Lewandowky was a popular figure in the campaign among the staff, and it sounded like he wasn’t the only one who felt negatively towards Manafort.

It sounded like people in the campaign looked at him like the judge in “Caddyshack”
