Alpha from 239 isn’t a threat unless one sniffs or does a taste test.

Or the pool leaks into a water table/water source or otherwise becomes compromised. Other than that, perfectly safe.

Fantastic. It always cracks me up to watch windmill blades going down the highway pulled by filthy, evil polluting semi tractors.

Because spent fuel can be recycled into more fuel in fast breeder reactors.

It’s amazing how large these turbines are now and they are going to keep getting larger.

From what I understand, the larger size increases efficiency.

How long before they start changing the climate?

Ocean City (NIMBY-MD) isn’t tony at tall. It’s just a bustling, crowded place that is way too peopley for me to be there long term.

Maryland “Freak State” PING!

Right. Because storing nuclear waste is perfectly safe and there's nothing to worry about with that 24,000 year half-life.

Man I can smell your BO from here. Is that VW bus you drive nice?

"I’ve lived in Maryland for nine years and besides a quick drive through on a business trip haven’t made the holy haj pilgrimage to Ocean City."

I lived in Maryland until I was in my fifties and I'd only been to O.C. a handful of times. It's okay if you like the beach and enormous crowds. And sand in your shorts.

It was a lot more "down home" back in the day:

Waste can be safely stored for almost forever in salt caves. It is fact.

Another native MDer here, central, who does not care much for the beach.

Our son wanted to go and we finally took him one week with no school interference (he’s in private which had different schedule, nice). It’s been 3 years and he hasn’t been asking again.

I wasn’t raised to go with the huge herd to “the beach”, and we rather take DIFFERENT vacations than the same boring thing every year for mucho $$$. My parents and now we try to do historical things and better cultural things rather than annoying sand.

Oh, OCis nice when not crowded, but it’s nice mostly because of the other things that have cropped up as support. The beach cannot be that enthralling when whole amusement parks, mini golfs and other attractions pop up everywhere. And it’s not. A real PITA to get to and clean up from the beach. Not my idea of relaxing at all. Give me the pool any day.

Wind power isn't free by any means. If you want to see wind power take a
drive thru west Texas. They have the capacity to generate more than 20,000
megawatts.

I could handle OC for a week, but yeah, mostly off the beach.

The problem is that “the locals” to the coastline communities are not the folks who make the state so blue. The Ocean City condo owners who commute in from Bethesda and other DC suburbs are.
