Good on President Trump; however we need to keep in mind that this is not a totally new occurrence.
Dubya also shook each Mid's hand at USNA graduation that he spoke, and presumably, at other service academies when he did those (in a rotation, one academy per year).
I suspect that it's been done w other presidents, as well. The Military historians among us and enlighten us farther.
