Political correctness is not new. People were not nervous about using the N-word in 1927, but by 1936 it was becoming impolite as FDR’s liberalism caused Northerners to feel guilty about the treatment of blacks in the South. But totally separate from race, political correctness was becoming an issue in the Fifties for rather silly reasons.

Stan Freberg teamed with Daws Butler, who would later become the voice of many Hanna-Barbera cartoon characters, in this 1957 parody. This is a segment from Freberg’s radio show.

Memorial Day is for remembering and honoring the sacrifices made by the servicemen, servicewomen and patriots who have fallen and made the ultimate sacrifice for the benefit of our country. It is a time mourning their loss.

At the same time I can't help but mourn the damage this great country has endured at the hands of our out of control government. We've been aware of its machinations for over 40 years. I link this video to personally mourn the unchecked damage to our country at the hands of these cretins. (DISCLAIMER: I don't agree with all the sentiments implied by the visuals herein, though many I do.)
