Former EPA head Gina McCarthy knows why climate change activists aren’t getting their message across

Now at Harvard, the Obama administration alum admits it’s been hard to watch the Trump administration take aim at the work she’s proudest of. But she hasn’t lost hope.

GINA MCCARTHY STRIDES INTO the ocean-view ballroom at the Sea Crest Beach Hotel in Falmouth, plops down her green backpack, and glances out the window. The waves are angrily advancing on this last night in April, which feels as dreary as mid-January. “The water seems way closer than it was the last time I was here,” she says.

Maybe that’s because of climate change, the threat that McCarthy led the charge to confront as head of the Environmental Protection Agency during the Obama administration. Or maybe it’s just high tide.

She is surrounded by a couple of hundred researchers and advocates from the Union of Concerned Scientists, a national nonprofit based in Cambridge. It’s a gathering of serious specialists whose usual concern appears to have morphed into clinical depression. After all, they’ve spent the last year watching McCarthy’s successor at the EPA, Scott Pruitt, aggressively work to reverse each of the Obama administration’s environmental initiatives, as if crossing off every last item on a grocery list before reaching the checkout.

Following her introduction, as the crowd gives her a standing ovation, the 5-foot-2, white-haired McCarthy bounds to the podium in her New Balance sneakers. “The Union of Concerned Scientists,” she begins, drawing out the adjective for effect. “I’ve always wondered, compared to what? The Union of I-Don’t-Give-a-S*** Scientists?”

Channeling that old Saturday Night Live skit where William Shatner implored a convention of Trekkies to “get a life,” McCarthy tells the crowd she isn’t interested in moping. She invokes a different SNL skit, saying she has no use for “Debbie Downers.”

Wow. Such a puffed up, self-promoting piece by this writer for the Boston Globe. Though I grant he did note that the tide might be the cause for the water rising.

It’s simple. They don’t believe their own information.

If they did believe lowering carbon emissions was so critical they would be demanding draconian cuts in carbon. Differnt light bulbs won’t do it. Solar panels on roofs won’t either.

To reduce carbon emissions to the level they claim is necessary, you would have to reduce the standard of living back to the 1800s. Carbon is only an excuse to pretend they are important.

I still haven't heard a plausible explanation as to why the spot of land currently called “Central Park” was once covered by a glacier that was one half a mile thick.

“Union of Concerned Scientists, a national nonprofit based in Cambridge”

Is not and never has been about “science”.

No matter how much it’s members have spent with any academic or professional experience in scientific pursuits, its founders and majorities of its members are hardcore Leftists who push Leftist agendas in “science” and always have. It is no accident that such an organization has a friend in an appointee of the Marxist thug that occupied the White House from 2009 through 2016.

This was always a scam. They tried to set up a carbon trading market to tax the air & pull in billions of dollars. That’s what Global Baloney was always about.

This self-important, anti-science, anti-fact, retard, retrograde loser should be happy she isn’t in jail for being a lunatic and loser. Mayne she’ll stumble off her balcony. That would be sad...

The Union of Concerned Socialists/Communists, which is dedicated to perverting and destroying real science. I give McCarthy credit for her ability to visually measure increments in ocean levels amounting to thousandths of a millimeter.

"“The water seems way closer than it was the last time I was here,” she says."

It's called "tides". The phenomenon is caused by the gravitational attraction of the moon and the sun.

Please repeat 5th grade.

“The Union of Concerned Scientists,”"

You ever notice how all Marxist front groups have wonderful touchy feely names like this? Why, who could possibly disagree with "Concerned Scientists" or "Mothers Against Drunk Driving" or "Social justice Warriors". Is there really anyone out there that is actually for drunk driving or social injustice? The most disturbing thing about this tactic is the number of drones in society that buy into it.

I knew an Ivy League graduate who was a federal agency head in the Clinton administration who didn’t understand the difference between saltwater and freshwater. Seriously. Her job had nothing to do with the environment but her ignorance of the world around her was disturbing, to say the least. I’m sure she would take the hysterical sea level rise assertions hook, line and sinker, even though there is no empirical evidence supporting it.

UCS has never been about science. It is a communist sympathizer organization born during the Cold War to push unilateral nuclear disarmament. They run the ridiculous "doomsday clock" that for 60 years has been 15 minutes or less to midnight.

Wanna know a big reason why nobody believes you, Gina? Because none of the predictions of your buddies have come true. You are pedaling junk, political pseudo-science.
