Mueller v. Trump
The Weekly Standard ^ | 05-20-2018 | Ted Olson

Posted on 05/20/2018 7:31:33 PM PDT by CWW

As things now stand, Mueller has not made, or even attempted to make, a record to explain why he would be justified in invoking the power of the judiciary to compel the president to show up before a grand jury—without a lawyer—and answer whatever questions Mueller and his army of prosecutors may put to him.

Two Supreme Court decisions have been cited by some commentators as precedents authorizing compulsive judicial authority to force a president to testify before a grand jury. But neither case goes nearly that far. Indeed, both decisions are explicitly limited to the unique circumstances that gave rise to them.

The importance of all this to the president is that it is unlikely that he can be forced to give grand jury testimony simply to satisfy Mueller’s curiosity and submit to a potential perjury trap. He could, in short, put Mueller to his proof—make Mueller show that the president’s testimony was necessary to prosecute someone else. And that such evidence could not be obtained elsewhere. That is a high bar, indeed, and one that at this point Mueller has not shown he would be able to surmount.

I wouldn’t trust his advice or take on the situation if I was Trump. But it seems like it actually favors Trump, at least to me. So where’s the trap?

To much of a chance the mole/s taped conversations with Trump and mueller has them. The top lawyers say an interview is a bad idea. Cops tell you “you have the right to remain silent.” DJT should do so unless the first thing he says is “you’re fired” and he can do that over the phone.

Well, in my opinion Ted Olsen shouldn’t be able to look himself in the mirror. I think normal people would realized what marriage really does for society. In either case, if he knows and is lying, or is so dumb he actually doesn’t know, you can’t trust what he says.

But where is the trap? He wants Trump to act on this advice—seems like that is the right move. As in don’t consent to an interview.

Allen Comes is why I am conservative today.

He was on a show in San Diego in the 90’s KOGO? called Left to Right with Barry Farber during the O.J. trial.

Comes made no sense ever and Farber mopped the floor with him.

That’s when I said, “I’m a conservative”.

A prosecutor would have to present the CRIME to the grand jury.

Didn't you notice that to date no one has charged Trump with a crime?

QUESTION TO CWW What do think the grand jury would do?

To: Equine1952; BKO

Ted Olsen is a fine attorney. One may not agree with a particular position he stood for, but remember he is extremely experienced in Constitutional law and has testified before the Supremes more than most.

He wrote about his last conversation with BKO. She called him from her seat on the plane before it crashed into the Pentagon. I’ll never forget her words: “Ted, what should we do?”

In answer, Americans on flights ever since have been on alert and prepared to defeat anyone who would attempt a hijacking again.

RIP, Barbara Olsen.

I think he passed away a year or so ago.

I used to enjoy Hannity and Colmes.

Deluded liberal, but seemed like a nice guy that aside.

So, he feels Mueller’s interview isn’t a good idea, but for whom is he truly concerned...Trump or swamp dwellers?

Sept 1st he will end it. He has all the information now why wait on ending this farce? He wants to get Trump to set down and talk to him and get him on a perjury trap that is why he is why he is waiting. Remember Gen. Flynn the FBI agents said he did not lie yet Mueller still charged him with lying and threatened his son with prosecution. Trump would be a fool to set down with this crook that has no integrity. He will say one thing then do another just to get trump. Also just what crime is Mueller investigating or what crime is Trump being investigated for. Trumps lawyer should tell Mueller to stick it we will see you at the SCOTUS
