During an interview with the Fox News Channel on Friday, Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) argued that schools can’t be defenseless and disturbed shooters “aren’t so disturbed that they’re going to shoot up the sheriff’s office. They’re showing up where there is no self-defense.”
Rand said, “I think the first thing we should do is, there needs to be an announcement by every school district that we’re going to defend our children, and that we’re not going to have a sign outside that [says], ‘We’re defenseless.’ And I think that’s the problem, is that we do have these homicidal or crazy or mentally disturbed kids, but they still aren’t so disturbed that they’re going to shoot up the sheriff’s office. They’re showing up where there is no self-defense.”
He added, “I think we get distracted. We start talking about something that Republicans and Democrats disagree with on gun control. … Look, every Hollywood actor that hates guns has armed bodyguards defending them. So, they hate guns unless the guns are defending them. Let’s announce tomorrow and let’s encourage everybody who protects our kids, superintendents, principals, school boards, announce tomorrow we’re not going to leave our kids defenseless. We are going to defend our schools from crazy people with guns.”

Put your legislation where your mouth is Rand! Introduce repeal of the gun free school zones act.
Trump needs to issue an Executive Order requiring all public schools by the start of the new school year to secure their buildings. This should include metal detectors and x-ray scanners at main entrances, locked down and surveilled non-main entrances, and uniformed Federal or police officers at every school during school hours. The funds to do this should come from our Federal coffers. I’m sure we have enough wasted money in the system to use for this.
The schools would need to adjust their schedules to allow for the added time students will need to enter the schools.
I’d love to see the Democrats fight this order. IT NEEDS TO BE GIVEN IMMEDIATELY!
If he does this, school shootings will virtually disappear.
To close, replaced by private schools and give parents choice and vouchers.
We should also ban movies, videos and other social media which glorify murders.

His is one of the few voices that has the guts to stand up to the gun-grabbing hysteria surrounding these shootings.

No mass shootings at the NRA convention either. You would think (according to libs) there would be at least a few hundred dead with 80,000 crazed gun nuts in attendance for a week.

I never feel safer than when I’m at a gun and knife show. That’s because it IS one of the safest places anywhere.
Notice there are never any shootings at major Hollywood events. All are heavily guarded.
I feel pretty safe everywhere, but I carry 24/7/365 and everyone in my area of the boonies knows that I shoot constantly. And then there’s the pair of Malinois in the mudroom....

Schools are federally regulated.
Got a couple of labs. Not as intimidating as your Malinois, but they’re each over 100 lbs and they’re good watchdogs.
