A mega mall and entertainment complex in Northwest Miami-Dade that would dwarf any other appears to be on course for approval, but not without controversy.
Its called the American Dream.
It would be the largest mall in the world.

I want to fly my tiny R/C airplanes inside some of those places.
For that matter, I’d love to fly my R/C plane (or float my submarine) inside the local Cabelas or Bass Pro shop.
:)
“A local mother told the planning board the American Dream would save a drive to Disney World in Orlando, some three-plus hours away from Miami-Dade.”
First world problem.
No kidding.
Who is building the skywalks?
So has something happened to Sawgrass Mills or are there to be two supermalls in competition with one another?
Back in the Dark Ages of 1973, I drove north on Peoria St in Tulsa Oklahoma. There on the north edge of the city was a nice new strip mall. All buildings occupied. Liquor store on the south end, fast food store. Big chain store in the middle. But a bad area of North Tulsa.
ONE YEAR LATER I drove through the same area and the mall was completely CLOSED DOWN. Only the liquor store appeared to be open.
I just looked it up on Google Maps, it is still there and still closed down except for the liquor store. Even the Fast Food place has been torn down and gone.
We have two malls near where I live now. One has never done well and has never had all it’s stores occupied since 1977. The other 15 miles South, does well but I have not been in there in years.
The site for this monstrosity appears to be located inside the edge of the Everglades Water Conservation Area.
Given the delicate balance of water needs in So. FL I doubt this will ever be built.
Be sure you have a “street sweeper” when you go.

Miami-Dade get robbed mall! I’m black and I wouldn’t go!
Nothing wrong with Sawgrass. One is a shopping mecca and one will be far more of an entertainment and activity mecca. Really even shouldn’t call it a mall to be honest.
