Two thoughts:
1. She had no business being the OOD to begin with, thanks to affirmative action, and
2. I will give her credit for taking responsibility and not blaming others. That is the one thing she did right.

She isn’t a “junior lieutenant”, she’s a “Lieutenant Junior Grade”. And the speculation as to why the Navy was so reticent about identifying the OOD is now over.
To: chajin
...an additional month on top of the two she forfeited as her nonjudicial punishment.Never having run afoul of the UCMJ I don't know much about it but I thought that once you were punished for an infraction under Article 15 you couldn't be prosecuted/punished in any other way.

The navy is in such terrible shape because they are trying to integrate queers and women into a war machine. Won’t happen. Can’t happen. Never has and never will. The republicrat head of the armed services committee takes over a million dollars a year from defense contractors and screened employees, We are in huge trouble.

A ‘reprimand’
and a few month’s pay

How many O-4s and how many O-5s were assigned to that ship? 10 or more total? (How many of them were on the bridge?) Yet, it is Navy procedure to have an O-2 OD. I was never in the Navy (but was in the Army) and although I am all for young officers being given responsibility, this sounds really stupid to me.

This young LTjg should write one hell of an “After Action Report” for the benefit of all -—— “Lessons Learned” is a great tool to prevent this kind of FU’s in the future.

This article is very confusing as it describes a court martial and also calls it non judicial punishment. It cannot be both. Poorly written to say the least.

No Discharge? Having only reached the lofty rank of SP5 I don't know much about officers but I've heard it said that when an officer receives a letter of reprimand his/her military career is over.
