President Trump Just Threatened to Close U.S. Borders Entirely
Time Magazine ^ | May 5, 2018 | Zeke Miller, The Associated Press

President Donald Trump said Saturday “we want to make everything here” as he promoted his “America First” agenda during an appearance in Cleveland, days before the state’s primary election.

Trump spent several hours in Ohio meeting with supporters and participating in a roundtable designed to highlight the benefits of the new Republican tax law. Striking a celebratory tone, Trump listed his poll numbers and recounted the successes of his first year in office. He also looked ahead to his meeting with North Korea’s Kim Jong Un.

“We have the time and place all finished,” Trump said, but he wouldn’t predict the outcome of the talks, saying, “we’ll see what happens.”

Trump criticized U.S. immigration policy, saying people entering the U.S. illegally are taking advantage of “catch-and-release” practices and don’t show up for their immigration court dates. He said: “We may have to close up our country to get this straight.”(continued)

I tried to emigrate to Australia in the 80’s, had a good job lined up in their defense industry working submarines.

No dice! I did not meet their standards LOL

Only America lets folks with nothing to show come to the table

BTW Oz, thanks for the small miracle, I thought you’d be a good place for a man to be free, then you took away the guns...

So its our job on the border to keep you comfy and warm?

What are you doing to secure the border?

I loved this observation by Trump “We send our children to secure other nations borders, but won’t defend our own /s”

Well stated Mr President, well stated.

What’s this BS about the column of Honduran refugees seeking asylum?

It’s all BS, asylum is the first border you come too where you aren’t oppressed

Meanwhile, Millions are pouring into Columbia from Venezuela,
They are starving.

WTF is going on in Honduras? and why do you have to cross 3 borders to find a place to lay yer head?

Why is Mexico facilitating this thing?

The Arab Spring was a sick joke, Some poor Tunisian fruit vendor got screwed so we gotta overthrow a 35 year allie in Egypt and invade Libya while Ghaddafi is playing nice for a decade, Then we get an Ambassador and a bunch of others killed.
Then they peddle us some dumbass story about a youtube video

They let those folks twist in the wind for 13.5 hours when all the assets that launched the initial Arab spring were 30 mins away in AFB Sigonella Italy.

Man I need a nap lol

Criminals all around

The President can send troops to guard our borders, why doesn't he? Just declare the invasion what it is or declare martial law and man the border, don't say you are militarizing the border by sending National Guard to distribute food and medicine.

By the way it is not my job to secure the borders, I am pretty sure the Constitution assigns that job to the President.

Yes, he absolutely can do that, just like he can fire Sessions, Rod Frankenstein, etc. Yet he doesn’t. Why?

It’s anyone guess. We know he is an amazing strategist, and thinks long-term. I’ve got to believe that he has thought out all strategies and their political ramifications, and is doing what he thinks is best at this time.

Notice he is beginning to say, multiple times, how important the midterm elections are. I truly believe November will be a turning point, one way or the other. I just pray it turns OUR way so DJT can really be unleashed!

OK, I’ll take a shot at this.

We need a HUGE Order of Thumbtacks, make sure that they land Point UP! That should slow down traffic.

I can pretty much assure you that the National Guard sent to help out will not be issued any live ammunition so what ROE are you taking about? They are little more than Peace Corp volunteers all show and no blow.

If he continues to let Mitch and Ryan control the candidates then we are doomed. When has the Democrat leadership ever campaigned against a Democratic candidate? When has a Democratic AG ever investigated a democratic leader? Sessions laid down and rolled over on the Menendez prosecution as well as Lerner.

Yes, agreed. Mitch, Ryan, McCain & Sessions (sounds like a law firm, lol)...the Swamp couldn’t be scummier. They are “one” with their friends across the aisle.

Another possible law change. No automatic citizenship at birth if the mother entered the country illegally while already pregnant.

I decided to Google why people are fleeing Honduras. Found several articles of interest. Below is a link and a key paragraph in that article. It proposes that the biggest complaints are about loss of land and jobs to big developers, and corruption at the top destroying the people at the bottom. Gang trouble is down the list. I have seen it in US too, except here people have fled to the Trump vote.

https://rootcausesdelegation.wordpress.com/2017/02/07/walls-security-and-extraction-exploring-the-root-causes-of-honduran-migration/

The “Alliance for Prosperity Plan,” implemented as a response to the migration spike in 2014, reflects this flawed perspective. This four-country agreement between the United States and Central America’s Northern Triangle countries aims to curtail immigration from the regions largest immigrant-producing nations—Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador. Significantly, the $750 million budget approved by the US Congress for 2016 focused primarily on aid for “development assistance” and “security measures” (Iesue, 2016). Under this Plan, reducing incentives for immigration means cracking down on gang violence, drug trafficking, high levels of extortion and overall insecurity on the one hand, and alleviating poverty through increased development opportunities on the other.

This is a dangerously misdirected and incomplete analysis. This past December, I was part of a delegation to Honduras seeking to uncover the “root causes” of immigration. The delegation met directly with a variety of affected communities. Gang violence and economic underdevelopment did not feature in these communities’ analyses of why they and their loved ones fled the country. In fact, as we met with indigenous communities, farmers, maquila workers, church leaders, human rights activists, and returned deportees, few mentioned gangs or underdevelopment at all. Instead, the recurring themes were the rampant privatization and extraction of public resources, facilitated by political corruption at the highest levels of government, and enforced through the militarization of the country and the criminalization with impunity of all those who dissent.
