Because you never know exactly what they revealed. You know what they were officially privy to but a “smart spy” increases that information range. Also their “handler” usually “tasks” them to do that! (The longer they went undetected the larger potentially the range!). You don’t know for sure who their contacts were or were they part of network. You don’t know who they “spotted” as potential weak points either individuals who could later be “turned” or weaknesses in your security system. (Of course also your captured spy could later be a bargaining chip!) While they’re imprisoned you can add or subtract “life conveniences” as a way of continuing to peel back the information as to what they did or didn’t do etc.
You execute them, they’re dead! No more questioning! If you didn’t get the full story you now never will.
Watch “Turned” set aside the “glitz & literary license” and its all there. The basics don’t change.

For one thing, he didn't just spy for "legitimate" reasons (whatever they may be). He sold classified information to countries as unrelated to his Israeli handlers as South Africa and Pakistan. Some of the information he sold ended up in Soviet hands.
There was a deal for sentencing that the judge abrogated after ex parte communications the defense could not rebut.
I don't believe that was the case at all. Check out the link in Post #8. Joe DiGenova, who prosecuted the case, explains what actually happened. The judge didn't "abrogate" any deal. He overrode the sentencing agreement after the U.S. Secretary of Defense provided a national security damage assessment as required in any such espionage case.
I agree he should be allowed to go to Israel. He should be stripped of his U.S. citizenship first.
Israel's relationship with the U.S. is really no different than Saudi Arabia's. They are two countries that simply spend a lot of money buying members of Congress.

Why would anyone in the free world continue vomiting the neo-Nazi canard about the USS Liberty in support of the evil nations that killed so many hundreds of thousands of U.S. soldiers, Marines and sailors who worked for a living in World War One and World War Two? Why are they calling so many U.S. servicemen traitors? Did their parents raise them wrong? Was it the late-60s hippie brainwashing? Are they on drugs? Are they carrying on with a disease of the mind passed down by their ancestors?
