Since I see you are interested, here's the three paragraphs from the Catechism of the Catholic Church which deal with homosexuality. It's actually clear and worth reading. And no, the moral law cannot be abrogated by anybody, not even the Pope.

2357 Homosexuality refers to relations between men or between women who experience an exclusive or predominant sexual attraction toward persons of the same sex. It has taken a great variety of forms through the centuries and in different cultures. Its psychological genesis remains largely unexplained. Basing itself on Sacred Scripture, which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity,141 tradition has always declared that "homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered." They are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved.

2358 The number of men and women who have deep-seated homosexual tendencies is not negligible. This inclination, which is objectively disordered, constitutes for most of them a trial. They must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided. These persons are called to fulfill God's will in their lives and, if they are Christians, to unite to the sacrifice of the Lord's Cross the difficulties they may encounter from their condition.

2359 Homosexual persons are called to chastity. By the virtues of self-mastery that teach them inner freedom, at times by the support of disinterested friendship, by prayer and sacramental grace, they can and should gradually and resolutely approach Christian perfection.

`

I will stand by every word of that.

It’s true that real Christianity is a whole lot more than “the avoidance of sin,” but much of what’s being pandered to us is a whole lot less.

No, Southern Baptist don’t have a sin list. The protesting group is asking Southern Baptist to act like groups that are controlled from the top down. Sin is listed in the God’s Word, the Bible, period. There is no list.

The “Church” by definition is the body of believers. Unfortunately once a church starts ignoring sin, dictating from the top, and telling the members that instead of “go and sin no more”, “I’m OK, you’re OK with your sin”, they really cease to be a church.

Jesus (Yeshua) asks for repentance from sin, then he through his grace, grants forgiveness of sin. He does not say “Go and keep on sinning”.

Here's how the meeting with the sodomite groups went in 2011:

- Sodomites present their demand, that homosexuality be "delisted" as an official sin by the denomination. They bring a meaningless stack of petitions from who knows what "supporters" proving that "public opinion" demands it.

- When the leadership refuses based on God's Word, homosexuals then make the accusation that "gay" youth are suffering and killing themselves over such teaching, directing implicating denominational teaching in these suicides.

- Sodomites provide literature from "scientific" and "psychological authorities" insisting that the denominational group is "anti-science" and is operating on 18th Century information.

- Sodomites then bring up the changes in race relations that the denomination(s) have made over the years as indication that they can also change on sexual perversion. The implication is that the denomination is "racist" if it doesn't change on this issue. - When an impasse ensues, sodomites request an ongoing "honest, respectful, humble dialogue" with denominational leaders on this issue to try to push the point. They will blasphemously invoke the Holy Spirit as an arbiter between them.

- When denominational leaders affirm the uncompromising position it holds and refuse "dialogue," sodomites then accuse them of being bullheaded and obstinate, the unreasonable party in this exchange. You can then expect them to shout this characterization from every homo-website on the planet to disparage the denomination.

- All the while, other protesters are denigrating and harassing attendees to the conference at the venue.

The answer is to not just deny a meeting, but to ignore them completely. They are 2 Timothy 3:1-5 apostates. We are implored: "From such turn away."

Perhaps you should present this portion of the Catechism to the Pope. He apparently never has read it.

Idiots. Manipulating the bible for their own means is something Southern Baptists can’t do. After all, they aren’t Catholics.

Having watched this alleged pope pretty carefully for the past 5 years, I've learned that if you wait long enough, he'll say anything. Absolutely anything.

His main consistency, it seems, is inconsistency.

I agree that we as Christians are called to lead holy, blameless lives to the best of our ability. But I think Paul, in a discussion about the Law, points out very clearly that humans are incapable of living up to that standard. I would argue that the Law is not so much a list of behaviors to avoid, but a standard by which we compare ourselves to convince us of our sinful nature, thereby bringing us to the understanding and conviction that we are utterly hopeless without accepting Jesus Christ as our Savior. Relegating the Bible and the Law to being a “sin list” doesn’t put a scratch on the surface of the meaning of God’s Word or the Law.

How do you know that’s infallible?

You don’t.

The pope can wipe it out with one swish of his white cassock.

It’s not even semi-satire. This is how depraved these walking demons are.

Given the Catholic Church's statement on homosexuality (and that it has over a billion members), I'd disagree that the SBC is the "largest" church holding to the traditional Christian teaching on homosexuality.

If anyone dares to try to substantively change this teaching in some swishy, squishy new version of the Catechism, my pastor and my bishop both know that we the catechists and the plain obstinate faithful won't stand for it.

But here's the frustrating part. The squishes know that they can't change doctrine, but they CAN change Catholic pastoral practice and they CAN change Catholic culture. That's the maddening part.

What I'm saying is, the squishes don't frontally abrogate doctrine, because they know they can't. So they just cover it with nuance and ambiguity, and let it perish of silence and suffocation.

But they can't do that unless they outlive us recusants. And, God help us, we will outlive them all.

Yeah, he must have missed that whole section when he defrocked a Catholic priest for celebrating a same sex "wedding".

Obviously, Pope Francis did so because he disliked the shoes the priest wore to the event, right?

It doesnt matter. God is not removing it from the sin list. What man says is not relevant.
