The Catechism and Canons are the ongoing application of the Scripture to the needs and concerns of the Church and the world.
Here is an excellent book on the subject:
Spiritual Dimensions of the Holy Canons

You claim that Christ eliminated the 10 Commandments?

Gotta talk to the Boss. He wrote the procedures. Let me know if He changes His mind, but I wouldn’t hold my breath or anything.

Thank you, lightman. This looks very pertinent.

Disfellowship is not however an action taken by bureaucrats or some ecclesiastical hierarchy. It is the action of the member churches, usually one of the member associations.
Withdrawal does not have the impact experienced in top down hierarchies. Local Baptist churches choose their pastor and staff, own their building and property, and can affiliate with other churches, or associations, or join with another variety of Baptists, or remain independent.

It is not the Southern Baptists sin list, it is Gods sin list. We just follow His word as it was given to man.And which of God's sin lists is it?
Last I read in the New Covenant, there were two Great Commandments - Love God with all your being - Love your neighbor as yourself - Because where there is love, there is no harm and that in and of itself fulfills the intent of the Law.
I realize God said he saw sodomy and such an abomination in the Old testament, but He also gave us the Commandments we asked for with the singular purpose of proving to us we cold never follow and rules and would always have to be killing our best livestock in order to atone....

Then the CCC should post the Scriptures. There is power in just the words of Scripture itself.
To: narses
You do realize that in addition to these there are or so Laws? Right?
To: ealgeone
We agree there is power in the words of Scripture.
You have to understand the Catechism is not a big omnibus compendium, it is a summary outline. If the Catechism authors/editors posted all the Scriptures they cited, the Catechism would be a couple volumes bigger. They made an editorial decision to keep it to one volume under 400 pages. Everybody has a Bible to look up the citations.

The teaching of the Catechism is based on Scripture.A more accurate statement:
Some of the CCC is based on Scripture. A lot of it is based on what Rome calls "Sacred Tradition" which is not, or should not be, on par with Scripture as it is not inspired as Scripture it.
BTW...still awaiting your answer to my question.
To: miserare
Roman Catholics would do well to learn that all sin leads to death and separation from God apart from faith in Christ.

In fact, when Jesus said this, he said something to the effect that “on these hang all the law and the prophets”.

As indicated to you before, I'm an Evangelical.
BTW....still awaiting your answer to my question.
To: ealgeone
No, I asked which church, and I asked who's your bishop. And I asked first. Months ago.
So we're both being impertinent, which, when you think of it, is rather too bad.
Snark is like sin. It's what people fall into, lacking grace.

True, member churches remain autonomous in the highly decentralized structure of the SBC, but it is still an “at-will” association, either by the member church or the SBC organization. If a congregation is disfellowshipped, they are not allowed to bill themselves as “Southern Baptist” anymore, cannot vote or participate in the decisions of the association, or influence it in any actionable way.
