Melania Trump's State Dinner Menu Slammed As 'Froo-froo Garbage' By Pundit (Erick Erickson)
Newsweek ^ | April 25, 2018 | Harriet Sinclair

Posted on 04/25/2018 4:57:38 PM PDT by EveningStar

First lady Melania Trump’s menu for the state dinner with French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte was described as “froo-froo [sic] garbage” by a conservative pundit, who suggested the fare was out of touch.

In a tweet, Erick Erickson mocked the menu selected by Melania—who eschewed an event planner in favor of organizing the occasion herself—which included a rack of lamb and jambalaya...

Erick Erickson @EWErickson

This menu is why I could never be President: http://thehill.com/blogs/in-the-know/in-the-know/384422-first-lady-releases-menu-details-for-macrons-state-visit  I'd serve fried chicken and mashed potatoes with sweet potato pie for dessert. None of this unpronounceable froo-froo garbage.

Not when you consider what the rest of the menu was like ( which was disgusting and I wouldn't have found anything at all [well, except for one of the veggie dishes ...maybe ) to eat if I had been there ); even the first dessert was disgusting..."Italian apple pie", which was poured over with buttermilk "cream". Oh YUCK!

And the veggies, served as part of the dessert ( green peppers, tomatoes, and something else ) were dipped in chocolate!

The question of why Erick Erickson could never be president has kept me up at night for years. Now I can finally get some sleep.

There has to be some good way to cook it, or when the Lord instructed the Israelites to observe the Passover with it, they would have said what kind of stunt are You trying to pull on us, God?

It was great, both France and Louisiana were honored.

Many people have less than NO idea how to cook lamb of any kind. So I bet you would like it IF you had lamb cooked correctly. :-)

I’m being silly of course ma’am.

Green pepper dipped in chocolate. I have to give points just for the unique idea. What the execution was like, that could be something else. Was it bell pepper or jalapeno?

And getting it to even stick to tomato? Or was that like cherry tomatoes?

I could see it, done right. On the exact right kind of green pepper and tomatoes. Otherwise the flavor clash would be like, gross.

He’s insane.

It was a staunchly pro-American meal with traces of French cuisine.

American spring lamb which more Americans should be eating - it is delicious; Carolina Gold Rice, a long lost rice from slave times brought back in small batches (I have two pounds in my pantry); jambalaya, a very American dish from Louisiana that has roots in Spain and France.

Elegant, simple and very American.

Fat Erick is a fat fool.

Our First Lady and Presidents Dinner was a stunning success in every way....jealous and bitter news cycles cannot take that from either of them.....just ask macron and his wife!

Both men shared a toast over what looks like a glass of white wine.

Gold-adorned vessels complimented the ornate candlestick holders located on the head table.

During speeches, the lights were dimmed to put focus on the presenters.

Thanks to the tall white candlesticks, this created a romantic vibe.

Enormous arrangements of sweet peas and white lilacs served as the centerpieces for the tables, while 1,200 cherry blossoms were displayed in the Cross Hall.

I do remember that show. But it was an Iron Chef America competition. White House Executive Chef Cristeta Comerford and her teammate Chef Bobby Flay defeated Chefs Emeril Lagasse and Mario Batali.

He hasn’t subbed for Rush in a very long time. Rush knows better than to put Erick Erickson on again.

I honestly don’t know how to react to Eric Erickson criticising Melania Trump’s event planning skills. Who asked him? Is he applying for the job?? I’m now stuck with an image of Eric Erickson trying to squeeze his butt into one of Melania’s dresses and tottering around on spiky high heels.

Jambalaya is hard to do wrong even from a mix. From scratch, who is he calling froo froo?
