Melania Trump's State Dinner Menu Slammed As 'Froo-froo Garbage' By Pundit (Erick Erickson)
Newsweek ^ | April 25, 2018 | Harriet Sinclair

Posted on 04/25/2018 4:57:38 PM PDT by EveningStar

First lady Melania Trump’s menu for the state dinner with French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte was described as “froo-froo [sic] garbage” by a conservative pundit, who suggested the fare was out of touch.

In a tweet, Erick Erickson mocked the menu selected by Melania—who eschewed an event planner in favor of organizing the occasion herself—which included a rack of lamb and jambalaya...

Erick Erickson @EWErickson

This menu is why I could never be President: http://thehill.com/blogs/in-the-know/in-the-know/384422-first-lady-releases-menu-details-for-macrons-state-visit  I'd serve fried chicken and mashed potatoes with sweet potato pie for dessert. None of this unpronounceable froo-froo garbage.

He looks it.

I’m trying to imagine how a rack of lamb can be called “garbage.”

Also, Melania was showing the French that we, too, have beautiful products and fine wine. She must have enjoyed overseeing the menu.

Does he mean it was actually a real formal dinner without the socialist gutter dwellers that were not invited.

Erickson is an idiot. It’s more than that, it exemplifies the French presence in the early settling of the new world. Remnants of which exist in Louisiana today. I think that was an excellent choice for a menu from a political perspective.

Maybe he thought it meant lamb served on a wire rack?

Actually, you’re not supposed to cut those small branches from the cherry trees. We have cherry trees in the park here and people are always cutting those twigs off. Vandalism.

" I'd serve fried chicken and mashed potatoes with sweet potato pie for dessert"

That is so 2009.

My husband used to cook from Paul Prudhomme’s cookbook. He did the best he could with Michigan ingredients. Yum.

Thank you.

I really dislike people who pontificate about food without knowing anything about food. Obviously, freepers know their stuff if the comments are anything to go by!

Chocolate has to reach a certain temperature in order to coat something with; it WILL cook a cherry tomato, should it be dipped into tempered chocolate!

Chocolate covered insects, sadly, isn't a "joke", something all too real. :-(

It’s Erick Erickson. He lives in Macon, which is a culinary wasteland.

STHU Erick.

Maybe they’ve got a sacrificial cherry tree somewhere on the grounds for the purpose.

“The melting point of chocolate is between 86 degrees F. (30 degrees C.) and 90 degrees F. (32 degrees C.), lower than body temperature. Using high heat is very risky and the most common cause of grainy and/or lumpy chocolate. Chocolate melts better and faster when using lower temperatures.”

That is what I was thinking. The gardener surely would know the correct and incorrect way to get cherry blossoms.
