Reparations, Income Handouts, Guaranteed Jobs: Dems Tilt Hard Left With New Pet Projects
Fox News ^ | 4-25-2018 | Adam Shaw

Free tuition, minimum wage hikes and "Medicare for all" are so 2016.

As Democrats look ahead to the midterms and the 2020 presidential race, lawmakers and candidates are pushing the agenda even further to the left -- with bigger promises of sweeping government welfare programs ranging from guaranteed jobs to universal income.

Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., the standard-bearer for the party's left flank in 2016, once again is helping to lead the charge. He reportedly is set to announce a plan that will guarantee a $15-an-hour job and health-care benefits to every American “who wants or need one.” The plan, first reported by The Washington Post, would fund hundreds of government projects such as “infrastructure, care giving, the environment, education and other goals.”

Sanders’ office said they have not yet done a cost estimate or devised how they would pay for the massive government commitment. A spokesman for Sanders did not respond to a request for more details from Fox News.

But while Sanders once represented a fringe on the Democratic Party’s left, his views are becoming more mainstream in the party, with at least two other presidential prospects adopting similar policy proposals that would make Roosevelt’s New Deal look like old hat.

“I think Senator Sanders’ performance during the presidential campaign was much better than other Democrats expected, and this has given him a higher profile and greater standing in the campaign,” Stan Veuger, economist at the conservative American Enterprise Institute, told Fox News.

“Hillary [Clinton] losing to Trump has probably also convinced some people within the Democratic Party that a more populist platform would be electorally successful in general-election settings,” he said.

They’re also going to bring in 50 million zero-skill third world new voters, and use bureaucratic regulation to do away with the Second Amendment.

God I hope they go forward with this. It’ll take one question to shut down the Dem nominee in the debates. “How will you pay for this?”

guarantee a $15-an-hour job and health-care benefits to every American “who wants or need one.”

Who will decide who "needs" to work?

What a nice way to say forced labor camps. Kind of reminiscent of Mao's revolution where Chinese were forced out into the fields.

Are we getting "free education" too? (aka re-education camps)

The part where they have not analyzed the cost is the part that bothers me the most.

God I hope they go forward with this. It’ll take one question to shut down the Dem nominee in the debates. “How will you pay for this?”

They'll just answer that with the usual "it's time wealthy Americans pay their fair share," with "wealthy" meaning "anyone with a job." They'll pull out some phony statistics that "prove" that "Americans pay the lowest taxes of any developed country."

When PDJT counters that argument with factual statistics, they'll just say that "Trump statistics mean nothing because he's ordered his department heads to lie and submit false, distorted analyses."

Democrats are making the EXACT same mistake they made in 2016, which is buying into their own "blue wave" propaganda, declaring victory, taking of the "moderate" mask and showing their true radical agenda long before a single vote has even been cast.

The fact of the matter is if they are actually stupid enough to run on reparations, impeaching Trump, repealing the 2nd amendment, single payer health care, repealing the Trump tax cuts, and universal "basic income", they will get destroyed in every district but the most far left.

Perhaps what is even scarier is they will wise up and keep the moderate mask on, because all the above mentioned polices ARE their true agenda, and the day after the election if they take Congress they will start trying to enact them.

Mindless voters will always vote free stuff. Who ever offers the mostest Free Stuff wins. When it comes to free stuff, its worth what you paid for it.

Once the bill comes due, they will ‘dispossess’ the opposition. Same as it ever was.
Venezuela, Zimbabwe, and more recently in a Newsweek article about South Africa about white landowners, this...
‘...attempts to defend their privilege could well lead to loss of everything they own....’ for the common good, of course.
History repeats itself.

Finland was only providing ~$500/mo when their median income was ~$3000mo.

The Swiss proposal was for ~$2500/mo, but was turned down.

I suspect the results would be different at those two levels.
