Democrats in New York flipped a New York Assembly seat on Tuesday, winning a seat that has been in GOP hands for nearly four decades. Democrat Steve Stern, a former Suffolk County legislator, beat out Janet Smitelli (R) for AD-10, a Long Island seat, with 59 percent of the vote, according to Daily Kos.

The district has been represented by a Republican since 1978.

Former presidents Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama both won the district in the last two presidential elections, but the 18-point margin in Tuesday's election is indicative of a growing blue wave in the area.

The liberal media had to find a consolation prize since they lost that Arizona House seat they had been hyping all week and that didn’t play into the blue wave narrative. So the only thing you will hear about tomorrow morning is this piddly state race from New York instead....

This is downstate NY.

Used to be R but its changed into a heavily D area.

Not surprised the seat finally flipped.

What did Republicans accomplish with that state seat that they held for 4 decades?

“Maybe the Republican candidate sucked.”

It’s New York! Ask me if I give a flip! Most of the decent people left that state decades ago.

What a howler! They probably meant President Bill Clinton. He carried NY twice in his 90s presidential runs.

What the DemonRATS do is pack in subsidized housing in these red districts and they turn blue.

Not a loss with the Assembly seat.

The lower house has been run by Democrats for decades.

It’s, unfortunately, a minority but there are still millions of decent people left in New York state and city.

Exhibit 1: Donald Trump!
