I wouldn’t take this too lightly if I were he, or his parent. This interaction with law enforcement, and the report associated with it will likely follow him. He should not be surprised if he is unable to purchase a firearm in the future due to being flagged as high risk.
Someone needs to offer this young man a full-ride scholarship. Would be money well-spent.
There’s part of an enormous lobby for gun control. It’s not only chiefs and not only municipal interests. Don’t ever support the Article V effort. It will be the end of your constitutional rights. The municipal and other local and state government lobby organizations do have much influence over choices of candidates for state legislatures. Only very coordinated and strong common voter efforts can make a difference and have as much influence.
The point is, if you’re working in the private sector and not connected to government, it’s extremely important that you vote in midterm elections like the election this year. It’s the only way you can hang on to or even advance your constitutional rights (also known as civil or human rights). There are over 40 million people working for the various levels of government or otherwise deriving their incomes from government in this country.
Vote! Write to your state and federal legislators! Join the NRA and your state Second Amendment lobby organizations.

On his walk down to meet Mr. Greenleaf, he should have been on his cell phone to his father asking him to get a lawyer and come to school on the double. Furthermore, I would have told these “officers,” that there would be no Q&A until a parent and a lawyer were present. I just hop he’s got a lawyer now.
Real simple solution:
Gather the necessary signatures and force a recall vote of Sheriff Scott Israel.
As my posting record would illustrate, I generally support “the cops”............at least more often than not.
But, assuming this story about this kid and these cops is accurate, it makes for a glaring example of what cop critics claim is a so called “cop mentality” that takes over some of these guys with a badge and a gun.
Shooting pet dogs comes to mind. Shooting Lavoy. Ruby Ridge and on and on endlessly. In this never ending process, these acts shrink the polls of “general support” of the public nationally another point or two.
Good cops, that are also prominent cops, like Sheriff’s and Chiefs of Police, are the only humans alive that can turn this dynamic around. They need to speak up loudly and often AGAINST this type of “cop mentality”.
I think too that this particular situation MAY run real close to violating this kids civil rights.
