The source is JAMA Psychiatry.

You would know that if you read past the headline.

Have you been smoking pot?

what a twisting of what previous trials have shown and this one. 72 hours after use... a chronic user (teenager stoner) is using more. The dosing of THC and cogener compounds that have genetic thread destructive effects (on the fatty acid chains and other links)... is cumulative. In a sense until it reaches blood levels that are “steady state”. The pharmacokinetics.

Sorry, had to comment. These brains are still growing (as they are learning)... so it is doubly destructive. Separate from the pharmacology that makes it a Class 1 Narcotic. When your 80— who cares? This destroys youth.

Chronic users never go 72 hours without dope.

The point of the study is that the observed changes to function are not permanent.

After all night partying, took my SAT’s one Saturday morning, after boning up in the parking lot, and again at the break.

Got into MENSA on the scores. My fellow pothead friends thought that was funny as $hit. Me, too.

Swimmers are notorious potheads. Olympic swimmers even. More than a few Pro motorcycle racers are, too. While racing. I know several.

I know current CEO’s (yes, plural) who regularly partake. And run startup medical device companies. And are very, very wealthy. I know cops, lawyers, and even a CPA who partake.

It’s not for everybody. I gave it up long ago. But people who condemn pot smokers with a broad brush are giggled at (heh) by pretty successful weed smokers. Reefer madness is plain ignorant.

“Chronic users never go 72 hours without dope.”

Precisely. What happens after constant use over a long period of time?

All I can say, is that I’ve never broken up a fight between people high on weed. I’ve been to murder scenes where alcohol was an instigating factor.

> “But new research in young people suggests that these cognitive effects, while significant, may not persist for very long, even among chronic users.”

Until they light up their next joint.

CNN idiots. But I repeat myself.

It’s pandemic in the tech business, which I am familiar with.

All those folks inventing cutting edge tech that changed everyone’s life are high as a kite.

At least they are several times per week.

And, part of that culture is “never high at work”.

I suppose then that this is clinical proof that liberals were >> that stupid << without needing to smoke pot.

"But when the researchers separated the studies based on length of abstinence from marijuana use, the difference in cognitive functioning between marijuana users and non-users was no longer apparent after 72 hours of marijuana abstinence."

But if you are a regular user, the ill-effects don't go away because you keep on smoking and that 72-hour threshold never arrives.
