Trump knocks out NK nuclear capacity and I bet promises to keep doing it unless they play nice. So they play nice.

" Being Koreans, neither side will abide by the agreement should it become considered necessary"

Koreans have no ethics

Slanderous bullshit. I spent time there. They are more ethical than most Americans. Fantastic, kind people.

Your premise is they won't what, abide by an official agreement to end their war?!? What does that even mean? This is amazingly good news, and you're the turd in the punchbowl. Nice job.

The deeming of Koreans or Asians as "unethical" is a valid observation. . .on the surface, but it gets a little more complicated, as do most things, when you seek to really understand what makes a people tick. It is more accurate to say Korean ethics are different. . .are more Confucian than Judeo-Christian (with the caveat that Christianity has had a profound effect upon Korea as much as any Asian nation.)

There is no question that the ancient Confucian value system is deficient in many ways, however there are aspects that are admirable. When you are dealing with Koreans you are dealing with people that can be unbelievably gracious, hospitable, can take the shirt off their backs, be passionate and caring and in the next minute be utterly contrary, selfish, dishonest, conniving and treacherous.

Of course, none are angels. . .but these non-angels are a special case for sure. When and if, North and South will get together, Korea will remain divided for decades to come because Koreans are divided on multi-dimensional levels. .not just North and South. The end of the Korean War will only usher in the beginning of the new war. . the one Koreans have been having even before there was a North and South. . .and it goes on inside every Korean.

The last and final hope for Korean unification is that there are Korean Jeffersons and Madisons that can rise up and point the way forward and that all Koreans can embrace the notion of endowed rights from the Creator, that the power to govern requires the consent of the people so endowed and that all, with the same endowed legal standing, are CREATED equal as per the intention of "the Governor of the Universe."

We just built a hugely expensive installation south of Seoul. We’re not going anywhere.

Color me skeptical. We have not see “concrete” movement on the nork’s part to disarm (denuclearize) yet. Just talk. I think its premature to just assume we can sprinkle skittles and all will be well. There are a lot of strategic competitors (China, Russia) who would love for us to fold up shop in SK and leave the pacific rim open for them to expand into.

Believe me, I am as surprised at you. Can't really find anything on the interweb about it.

It is my experience that Korean companies consider a written contract to be the beginning of negotiations for what is to be accomplished and what is the monetary consideration.

Koreans do not abide by western business ethics

This is the Trump effect -- unlike previous Presidents, he is convincing enough that he will toss everything aside and attack

however, this peace treaty is only a side-show.

The Kim dynasty will implode one day, the only question is when.

If this does happen, that is a big IF, it would warrent a nobel prize. Not the cracker jack box one Barry recieved but one for actual achievement.

All those guys Kim killed might have been the ones standing in his way and preventing this.
