MIT expert claims latest chemical weapons attack in Syria was staged
International Business Times ^ | April 12, 2018 | Tareq Haddad

Posted on 04/12/2018 10:13:44 AM PDT by WisconsinRep

A leading weapons academic has claimed that the Khan Sheikhoun nerve agent attack in Syria was staged, raising questions about who was responsible.

Theodore Postol, a professor emeritus at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), issued a series of three reports in response to the White House's finding that Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad perpetrated the attack on 4 April.

He concluded that the US government's report does not provide any "concrete" evidence that Assad was responsible, adding it was more likely that the attack was perpetrated by players on the ground.

Postol said: "I have reviewed the [White House's] document carefully, and I believe it can be shown, without doubt, that the document does not provide any evidence whatsoever that the US government has concrete knowledge that the government of Syria was the source of the chemical attack in Khan Sheikhoun, Syria at roughly 6am to 7am on 4 April, 2017.

"In fact, a main piece of evidence that is cited in the document point to an attack that was executed by individuals on the ground, not from an aircraft, on the morning of 4 April.

"This conclusion is based on an assumption made by the White House when it cited the source of the sarin release and the photographs of that source. My own assessment is that the source was very likely tampered with or staged, so no serious conclusion could be made from the photographs cited by the White House."

I keep seeing a video of people moving through what is purported to be a gas fog. If this was chlorine or a nerve agent they wouldn’t be moving. The cameraman taking the picture doesn’t seem to be effected.

Professor Theodore A. Postol of MIT vs. The Concept of Time April 28, 2017 By Eliot Higgins Translations: Русский Since the April 4th 2017 chemical attack on Khan Sheikhoun a number of individuals and organisations have attempted to promote narratives that promote the idea that the attack was a false flag. One prominent voice stands out among these individuals and organisations, that of Professor Theodore A. Postol of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Professor Postol was previously known for his work with the late Richard Lloyd on the August 21st 2013 sarin attacks in Damascus, claiming the White House version of events was false, with Postol in particular attempting to point the finger of blame at rebel groups. His status at MIT has made him particularly popular with conspiracy theorists who cite his work and credentials when promoting their false flag theories around the attack. With the latest attack in Khan Sheikhoun Professor Postol has returned to the fray, publishing a series of reports claiming to show the version of events as described by the White House is false. This has yet again drawn much positive attention from conspiracy theorists, and even a small amount of mainstream attention.

Assad did it- when the “usual suspects” appear to try to cover for Putin, you know they are liars. They’ve been lying since the Nuclear Freeze movement in the 70s if not earlier in the case of BAS, on behalf of the USSR, and like Putin they dream the USSR will rise again.

The professor doesn’t have to be there to see the evidence in order to come to his conclusion.

Think about it.

Who stands to gain the most from this attack?

Surely it’s not Assad since we announced that we were going to pull out of Syria a few days before this attack.

Same thing for the Russians.

The only groups that stand to benefit from this attack are the groups that mccain is buddy buddy with.

Why on earth would Assad do such a thing - perhaps just to kill people - his own people? Makes no sense - I smell a rat.

The professor is not privy to any evidence. He has his mind made up beforehand and his declaration is just to promote his own agenda. He has seen no more evidence to draw a conclusion from than Joe citizen has seen on CNN. As a vet, have you talked with any of your J2 folks? They would be far more reliable than this MIT professor.

No one stood to gain from the attack, except Assad, who was sending a message to his enemies. Tin pot dictators are not known for thinking about the consequences of their actions. They are gods in their own minds.

I put professors and nea teachers in the same class as politicians, reporters and lawyers.

We're going to need more lamp posts.

I am not sure what you mean. It is actually taken from some kind of play.

But what it shows is how convincing these videos can be if used to deceive. Children can be taught to be very convincing. I also find it interesting that at the very beginning there is a poster on a support column. Someones name is at the top. Guess who’s name? What is that doing there?

“the U.S. now has blood and urine samples from last Saturday’s deadly attack that have tested positive for chemical weapons, two U.S. officials familiar with the intelligence told NBC News.”

You are apparently to narrow minded to understand my post (probably not your fault given todays state of education), and that is why you also do not understand Assad or Arab mentality. They know only strength and brutality. Assad didn’t think about the consequences of using chemical weapons, only about crushing his enemy in a brutal way. When the thug is pointing the gun at you, do you think you are going to reason with him by telling him he is about to break the law?
