Syria MISSILE STRIKE 'within hours': Eastern Mediterranean on ALERT for 'possible launch'
Daily Express ^ | 4/10/2018 | Joey Millar

A coalition force could fire “air-to-ground or cruise missiles” in the wake of a horrifying chemical attack on innocent civilians in Syria last week.

Aviation experts AirLive have reported this evening a “rapid alert notification” warning aircraft in the eastern Mediterranean to be wary of a sudden missile strike.

AirLive said the alert was issued by Eurocontrol this evening for a “possible launch … within the next 72 hours”.

AirLive said: “According to reports, British forces are mobilising at their bases in Cyprus and Rafale fighter jets could takeoff from St Dizier airbase in France for possible strikes against Syria.”

Well, in the Med at least WWIII would be rather brief, with just about all the Russian Med fleet at the bottom of the ocean in relatively short order.

I suspct Putin will respond, but not there: probably Ukraine or maybe even the Baltics.

We are bombing Syria on behalf of Jaish al Islam who staged a chem incident in Dhouma and themselves used chlorine weapons against Syrian Kurds in Aleppo.

That was before the Deep State, McCain & Kristol had Trump by the short hairs. When he actually was Trump.

Like the ones Jaish al Islam used on the Kurds in Aleppo? That’s whose word we’re taking that they were the victim in Douma.

It's amazing to see how many Putin supporters or Russian trolls are active on FR.

A regime that uses chemical weapons is hostis humani generis. You don't need a declaration of war to go after them any more than you do to go after pirates.

It was Putin's stupidity to tie Russia's reputation to the Assad regime: if he had the Assads gassed and replaced with a more responsible brute, the US wouldn't care. So my guess is he doesn't have the power to do so, and I infer from that that his position in Syria is far weaker than it seems.

The people we are supporting literally behead & crucify people, especially Christians. Christians support the Syrian govt.

No one is going to go to WWIII over Syria although the Russians will huff and puff for effect.

The only problem is a miscalculation by Putin if he tries to respond elsewhere, for example, with an attack on the Baltics.

He may go after another chunk of Ukraine, but even I don't think he's nuts enough to start a war with NATO.

And, therefore, Iran’s much stronger.
I don’t think Russia would mind an attack on Iranian assets at all.

GAPORE (Reuters) - Pan-European air traffic control agency Eurocontrol on Tuesday warned airlines to exercise caution in the eastern Mediterranean due to the possible launch of air strikes into Syria in next 72 hours.

Eurocontrol said that air-to-ground and/or cruise missiles could be used within that period and there was a possibility of intermittent disruption of radio navigation equipment.

” Which Jihadi group will these missile hit ? “

Any working for the Assad government forces, killing civilians. I’d start with his palace guard, work out to his “elite” units, Iranian Hezbollah, and Russian technical advisors assisting any of these.

Trump doesn't like our involvement in Syria and for good reason, because it looks like one of those open ended committments with no end in sight.

I, on the other hand, think a modicum of involvement to keep the Iranians out and the Russian's bogged down at minimal cost to ourselves is a strategic asset.

And Trump is the one who drew another line at chemical attacks: my guess is that the Syrians and/or Iranians did this on their own without Russian involvement because it's not in Russia's interests to provoke us again. Or, they planned this as a response to our massacre of Russian mercs a few weeks ago, in which case they think they can prevail or at least give us a bloody nose.

Hard to tell.

If we hit something Russian, what would stop some destroyer from lobbing a cruise missile into Portland ME, or Seattle?

Attacking Portland, ME would likely result in heavy Somali casualties.

Seattle would kill a large number of H1-Bs.

You sure that'd be Russia's goal?

“If US to carry out illegal military adventure in Syria, you’ll be responsible’ – Russian envoy in UNSC”

American envoy to Russian envoy - “ When you give back the illegally annexed Crimea, we’ll give a left two teets of your opinion on legalities.”

Yes, it is. They parrot the Kremlin talking points for the day with no shame. When their lies are proven they never apologize for spreading their manure on a conservative website. They just move on to the next lie.

If we were persistent enough and had a real intelligence agency (LOL), we could probably get a Syrian general to remove Assad and boot both the Russians and Iranians out in exchange for opening up Syria and reconstruction money.

That's what we would have done during the Cold War.
