SESSIONS IS MOVING SHREWDLY ON THE FISA ABUSE INVESTIGATION
POwerline ^ | March 30,2018 | PAUL MIRENGOFF

Posted on 04/01/2018 6:53:27 PM PDT by Hojczyk

Moreover, Sessions was, in fact, using Justice Department lawyers with prosecutorial power in connections with potential FISA and related abuses. Since November, John Huber, the U.S. Attorney for Utah, has been on the case. Trump apparently didn’t know this, but he should have. Sometimes it’s better to talk to the Attorney General than mindlessly to blast him on Twitter.

Huber was appointed by President Obama, but his name was submitted by Senators Hatch and Lee of Utah. Thus, his selection by Sessions seems like a shrewd move. As Obama’s nominee it will be difficult for critics plausibly to paint him as anti-Democrat. But as the favorite of Hatch and Lee, Republicans should be confident that he’s not in the Democrats’ pocket. Moreover, because Huber works out of Utah, it’s unlikely that he’s connected in any way with D.C. insiders such as James Comey and Andrew McCabe.

What about the decision to use a U.S. attorney rather than appoint a special counsel? This decision also seems sound, and not just because I don’t like special counsels. The combination of the IG and the USA should be able to accomplish as much as a special counsel would — and accomplish it faster and with less fanfare.

The absence of fanfare is an advantage because it makes it more difficult for Democrats and their media partners to push the idea that anyone is being persecuted. A Justice Department investigation headed by two Obama appointees is harder to shoot at than a special counsel. And, of course, nothing prevents Sessions from appointing a special counsel if changed circumstances militate in favor of doing so.

In sum, Sessions has handled this matter well, Trump’s foolish tweets notwithstanding.

“Horowitz at OIG is investigating criminal wrongdoing “

He’s investigating whether to investigate.

The DOJ was issued congressional subpoenas. They don’t have a choice not to comply.

“I will lay you odds that never in his entire business career, dealing with slimy business people who sought to do him in, that he ever encountered the likes of our country’s political class.”

Ain’t that the truth.

If comey was doing his job, Hillary would have never been a candidate. She’d be in prison.
.....................................................

Right. But that ship sailed when Comey did not act earlier. The question remains did he(they) decide, for whatever nefarious reason, they would prefer Trump to Hillary and consequently opened up the investigation that then cost Hillary the election? Trump just gave them more money then they could have ever hoped for, including planned parenthood. And I’m not optimistic that the wall is going to be built. So I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t wondering exactly what we ‘won’ with Trump.

>>logic dictates that whatever he’s doing has got to be done with extraordinary secrecy and skill.<<

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Exactly.

And I would add that President Trump understands how to execute large, multiyear projects. ‘

But surgically removing the malignant, shadow, globalist, totalitarian parasite from the heart of American government is the biggest task ever undertaken ... with the sole exceptions of the creation of our nation as a Constitutional Republic based upon Liberty and Unalienable Rights from God ... and the Civil War.

But he is a prosecutor. They don’t just come out and publicly announce that they are going to prosecute, they are investigating, and when they have enough evidence they will announce any prosecutions after the fact.

It doesn’t take extraordinary circumstances to get a Special Counsel to go after Trump, only a rumor. And it happens overnight.

Sessions is from the Senate and I think he buys the, one set rules for the Right, and Hillary and Cheryl Mills, and David Kendall are DC Celebrity and off-limits.

75% of the Senate thinks Trump should be Investigated for last week’s tweets. The Senate loves Sessions.

And note that, at this meeting in November 2017 (when Huber was supposedly given this “review” assignment), Rosenstein is sitting at the head of the table instead of Sessions. Sessions is likely off on nap time like a good puppet.

Maybe our last peaceful chance at survival.

Or descent into unrecognizable ruination without so much as a shot being fired.

Again, I hope I am drastically wrong.

I’m really interested in the FBI treatment of FISA court requests during the Mueller tenure. He began service Sept 4 2001. With the dirtiness of his immediate successor, Comey, coming to light, there is no reason to think Comey established the illegal FISA behaviors. There needs to be an open-ended, limitlessly funded investigation of that particular period.

“Trump is using tweets to cover Sessions...If Trump bitches all the time the press pays no attention the Sessions..Read Art of the Deal..distract... distract.

If he was not doing what Trump wants he would fire him.”

This has never made sense to me.

Why does a sitting president have to distract the media from his AG from simply doing his job?

And as for Trump not firing Sessions being proof that he’s doing what he wants; not when he would end up with Rosenstein as AG and the Senate blocking the President’s replacement.

I am reminded of the countless times we were told Ken Starr’s Hillary indictments were “just around the corner”.

(excerpt)

Huber has been assigned the task of making recommendations to Sessions and Rod RosenFISA.

And the fact that Rosenstein is involved with this process is absurd.

Why the rush to get Trump on a rumor?

Yet, the reluctance to look into Hillary and let anything related to Hillary and FISA outside of Rosenstein’s Justice Dept?

Same Justice Dept, polar opposite response.

Yup. And there are many other examples of that. Rosenstein is in charge. Sessions is recused.

Hillary’s victory would have been the election to end all elections for the demoncrats. They would never have to worry about elections again. Right now the rabid left are in firm control of our 4 trillion dollar corrupt stasi state. They control the courts and fakestream media too.

The odds were always long that Trump could tackle this herculean task by himself. We needed all hands on deck. The repubikans decided to stab him and America in the back instead. How bout that...
