Authorities are searching along a remote stretch of the northern Mendocino Coast for three children who are feared missing after a crash earlier this week killed their two mothers and three siblings.

The family of eight, from Washington state, were highlighted in 2014 for an iconic photo of their son hugging a police sergeant at a Portland rally calling for police reform.

Married couple Jennifer Jean Hart and Sarah Margaret Hart, both 38, and their six adopted children were from Woodland, Washington, across the Oregon border from Portland. They’d recently moved from West Linn, Oregon.

The Mendocino County Coroner’s Office early Wednesday afternoon identified the children killed in the crash as Markis Hart, 19, Jeremiah Hart, 14, and Abigail Hart, 14. Family members helped with the identifications, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Still missing are Devonte Hart, 15, from the famous hugging photo, Hannah Hart, 16, and Sierra Hart, 12, according to officials.

This is being reported by several news outlets, including Fox News. This account has in that it notes that one of the two mothers was potentially being investigated by CPS. Other accounts (http://www.sanluisobispo.com/news/state/california/article207173784.html) are saying that there was no sign of a skid. Maybe murder/suicide?
