The new congressional map imposed by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court will be used in the 2018 elections, after courts rejected two challenges Monday.
First, a panel of federal judges Monday dismissed a lawsuit challenging the new map imposed by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, saying the Republican lawmakers who brought the challenge did not have standing — “We hold that the federal Elections Clause violations that the Plaintiffs allege are not the Plaintiffs’ to assert” — and that the case is not appropriate for the court to take up at this time.
“In short, the Plaintiffs invite us to opine on the appropriate balance of power between the Commonwealth’s legislature and judiciary in redistricting matters, and then to pass judgment on the propriety of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court’s actions under the United States Constitution,” they wrote. “These are things that, on the present record, we cannot do.”
Within hours, the U.S. Supreme Court rejected a separate request from top Republican state lawmakers that the court step in and block the map.

Alito would not provide relief. It seemed to be a standing issue, but I’m not sure. It sounds like it will have to await an actual i jured party.
I thought it was purely a constitutional question. State legislatures were given that power in the US Constitution

Lamb is running against Keith Rothfus in the new PA-17.
Saccone looks like he a clear path to PA-14.

I don’t believe there is a recount happening. There is no trigger for an automatic recountin Pennsylvania - even a one-vote margin doesn’t trigger one.
I think the Republicans are considering a number of legal options to try to force a recount, but I don’t think any of them have really gotten off the ground yet.
My guess is, the GOP will let Lamb take his seat, knowing that there is an election in 7 months anyway, and that the 18th isn’t going to exist anymore.
It will be interesting to see where Lamb runs in November. He’s shown himself to be a strong candidate, capable of winning in a heavy R district. The 18th is getting split into the new 14th - even more Republican; and the new 17th which is much, much more favorable to the Democrats.
Lamb likely wins the new 17th but it would need to be a HUGE wave for him to win the 14th.

You know, I wish these groups that filed lawsuits to fix gerrymandering in PA would do the same in Massachusetts and Connecticut.
Using Liberallogic (TM) as it was applied in PA :
Connecticut was a 54 - 40 Clinton win yet there are zero Rs representing Conn. in the US House. With a total of 5 seats, shouldn’t the Rs get at least 2 seats?
Mass. was a 60 - 32 split for Clinton yet there are zero Rs representing Mass. in the House. With a total of 9 seats in Mass, shouldn’t the Rs get +3 Reps to be fair?
I think the liberals are going to go all in for the House this year ... I doubt they’ll fund their Senate races ... it seems like the House or bust for the Dems.
I really hope the idiots in the GOP get their act together since we have a lot of opportunities to offset the black robe tyrant induced losses by picking up seats in places like Minnesota.
The Dems are going to use their 2006 textbook to win back the House (the Lamb race makes that crystal clear). The GOP has to get these challengers on the record “dissing their masters” in the Dem party and play the heck out of their quotes in the bluer “progressive” (regressive) parts of their districts ... cause chaos on their side in the primaries and drag the angst out until Election Day.
Point blank ask the self-described “progressives” if they don’t mind the Democratic Party becoming more Conservative and supporting parts of the Trump platform. A message/strategy like that could have kicked enough votes out of the Lamb column last week.
That’s a far better strategy than the idiotic Rove-esque “strategry” that will allow the Dems to lie their way into holding the House while the Rs play a prevent style defense.
