Howie Carr is a long time Boston talk host and columnist. He knows Boston politics, the Kennedys and Whitey Bulger (and his kid brother Billy) cold.

Anyone who's interested can listen to his show from 3-7PM (Eastern) on WRKO (iHeart Radio) or on his own app.

Damore did a great job on this book, virtually the only one to have the guts to look into the matter thoroughly.

Unfortunately, it didn’t get much attention, even at the time. The Kennedys, of course, put on the pressure to downplay it but Damore himself didn’t help. He presented himself terribly in book tour interviews, speaking in a stuttering, halting manner and lacking eye contact. It made for painful interviews, bad TV. Between the pressure and the offputting manner it became easy for producers to turn him down.

Kinda makes the Stormy Daniels story pale in comparison to JFK’s exploits. (Not that the Stormy Daniels story merits any consideration anyway).

He named his dog SPLASH. Must have been in memory of the last sound Mary Jo heard.

Howie is at his best on the Kennedy Syndicate and has been unrelenting in hounding them to the gates of Hell.

His 25th anniversary show from the party cottage on Chappy was genius showmanship and had the bow tied bum kissers on Morrisey Boulevard clutching their pearls for weeks.

RIP Leo Damore and George Parsons

“to spike the scandalous true story of Kennedy’s first marriage, to a twice-divorced Protestant socialite in Palm Beach in 1947.”

I am confused-this is the first time I heard of this. Is it true?

“Near the end of his life, in 2009, Teddy wrote a sorrowful letter to Pope Benedict XVI...”

How is it we know the contents of this letter? Seems to me, that this should be a confidential letter, from a Catholic to the highest Confessor of his Church? If we know the contents of Kennedy's Papal letter its because Kennedy himself released it. More phony baloney Kennedy crap.

If you have been as interested in this case as I have been from the beginning, get Biil Pinney's Chappaquiddick Speaks. I'm most of the way through this apparently self-published book but already it has destroyed everything I thought I knew about the "accident".

I never believed that Kennedy was in the car. (He couldn't have escaped and I don't believe anyone ever claimed to have seen him wet.) But I always thought Mary Jo was, until now.

Pinney is a Chappaquiddick native who KNOWS all the players and some you've never heard of. He KNOWS things other Chappiquiddians talked about in hushed tones but not publicly because of Kennedy intimidation (aka Death Threats).

Bottom line: Chappaquiddick was a STAGED accident. NO ONE was in the car when it went off the bridge. It was accelerating on the bridge, not decelerating. He brings real physics (like F=ma! from an Australian Physics Professor. I also have a Physics Degree.) into the discussion. Some may be too technical for some but it's real nonetheless. Mary Jo was already dead (or dying, I need to read on or reread) when she was inserted into the car.

“I have always tried to be a faithful Catholic, Your Holiness, though I have fallen short through human failings... I know that I have been an imperfect human being but with the help of my faith, I have tried to right my path.” Then he added, in a somewhat incongruous attempt at penance, “I have worked to welcome the immigrant.”

I've always wondered if a lot of what Ted Kennedy did in the Senate was driven by underlying guilt and trying to make amends in some way. His immigration bill has hurt the nation by pushing rapid demographic shifts and essentially overloading the 'melting pot'. It has hurt a lot of people, and weakened the nation. He, and his fellow 'privileged' class were never affected by the bills he pushed and passed. Other people, less privileged people, were made to suffer the consequences of his legislative actions - that he took in part to help clear his own conscience.

Until the Klintoons came along, the Kennedys were the model liberal crime family. And they’ve still got the deepest bench.

So, was the coroner in on the ruse, too? How did they get Mary Jo to drown and then insert her into the car?

This is one of the very few salacious rumors about the Kennedys that was not true.

More here.

The Kennedys’ official fanzine has always been the Boston Globe. Every sixth year, when he was running for reelection, the Globe would run stories about how Teddy was “turning his life around,” and how in an amazing feat of self-discipline, he had totally sworn off alcohol . . .

LOL. I remember those stories in the 1980s and 90s. Teddy was finally cleaning up his act - over and over and over and over and over and over and over again. Friends would be quoted on and off the record about how Ted realizes that he has to change. If we were lucky, the article would include a quote from the old lush himself.

You have made an excellent point.

But I wonder if he would have supported immigration reform if the beneficiaries would be future Republican voters.
Also, I think much of the problem with immigration lies will illegal immigration, not covered by the 1965 legislation.

Kinda? sheesh, I know we agree that's an understatement. It reveals the destructive bias of the media, a media which in effect lies to people.
