American Thinker ^ | March 18, 2018 | Rick Moran

Not everyone in California is a liberal extremist or radical, open borders fanatic. In fact, there has been a movement around for years in Northern California to create a 51st state called "Jefferson."

The City of Los Alamitos will vote on an ordinance that would exempt it from the sanctuary city law that council members say conflicts with federal law.

Members say that the state law “may be in direct conflict with federal laws and the Constitution,” not to mention going against the oath they took in taking office, The Orange County register reports.

Common sense in California! There is hope.

Name sounds strangely like the Alamo. Coincidence?

Seriously - if it ever happens I would strongly consider moving there to help.

Leftist billionaires like to support causes like secession of California. How would they take to someone promoting the secession of “Jefferson?”

It would be a good place. Nice weather, all the water resources of the state, fewer earthquakes.

How much of southern CA's water would flow through Jefferson?

That's a big issue there.

Students of LINCOLN will remember that his overriding passion was to "Preserve the Union". IMHO that must be Donald Trump's goal too. This sanctuary city stuff is designed to dissolve the union.

Huh? Really? Based on hundreds of past FReeper comments, California should be nuked by North Korea or slide into the Pacific due to a cat 9 earthquake... to hell with 15,000,000,000 conservatives living in this state, including the founder and owner of Free Republic. Based on their stereotype, even Clint Eastwood is a raving Moonbat like our Governor, Jerry Brown.

Not a Constitutional lawyer here, but if a municipality seeks Federal relief from the authority of a State Government in Rebellion against the Sovereignty of Federal Law, PDJT and some Federal Patriots may be able to assist the municipality in Federal Court.

Federal Courts may be able to take control of State Institutions that violate Constitutional Law as they did for school integration in the civil right era.

It would be ideal to have a Federal Court suspend the State Government of California and take control of the administration of Law in California.

Because the socialists and moonbats on the coast own the media, and the state government, it’s too easy to paint with a broad brush.
Myself, I’ve been to California many times. I hate the LA, SF, Hollywood crowd. Met lots of hard working people during my travel there.

IMVHO California has to be broken into two states. Really the best solution at this point.

The State of Jefferson project is going on way up in God's country--Yreka, Weed, Tule Lake, Alturas, etc. Down here, we have to make do in Jerry Brown's worker's paradise.

Jefferson, CA would still be California. The movement is
to make a new state out of counties in Northern California.
Jefferson is the working name of that movement. My
preference would be to keep the name California and allow
the southern portion of the former California to be
named North Mexico which seems to suit a majority of
the citizens. All conservatives from what was once SoCal
or the Inland Empire would be welcome in the low
tax/low regulation new state of California. However,
they would be stronly encouraged to leave behind all
traces of Dodger blue.

I believe that "Special Master" is the term that the Court assigns to the Chief Administrator of the team that takes executive control of the Municipality under the Court Order.

Governor Palin would be fully qualified and an ideal choice.

Yeah, I’ve seen those posts too.

What utter nonsense they are, and most of us are a lot smarter than that.

CA has enormous problems, but they aren’t insurmountable.
