Last week, Disney CEO Bob Iger was asked about the spat between View co-host Joy Behar and VP Mike Pence during a shareholders meeting. Iger revealed in his response to that question that Behar had personally apologized to Pence. Today, we begin round 5(?) of this story with an interview with Mike Pence set to air on Hannity tonight. From Fox News:
I give Joy Behar a lot of credit. She picked up the phone. She called me. She was very sincere, and she apologized and one of the things my faith teaches me is grace; forgive as you’ve been forgiven, Pence told Hannity…
While Pence forgave Behar, he encouraged her to publically apologize.
I’m still encouraging her, to use the forum of that program or some other public forum, to apologize to tens of millions of Americans who were equally offended, Pence said.
You and I know that criticism comes with public life, Pence added. But, I felt it was important that I defend the faith of tens of millions of Americans against that kind of slander.
If you’ve missed the backstory here, this all began a few weeks ago when Joy Behar made a joke about Mike Pence being mentally ill because of his Christian faith. Pence was asked about it and responded by calling out ABC.
“I just think it demonstrates how out-of-touch some in the mainstream media are with the faith and values of the American people,” he said. He added, “Its just simply wrong for ABC to have a television program that expresses that kind of religious intolerance. Were better than that.”
Meanwhile, there was a pressure campaign started by the Media Research Center over Behar’s comments which resulted in tens of thousands of calls to ABC.
ABC responded by having the View do a segment on the controversy during which Behar denied any ill-intent and affirmed that she and her family are Christians and that she makes donations to the church (details on this were fuzzy). However, she did not apologize to Pence on air.
Here’s the preview clip from tonight’s show.
Mike Pence does not only talk the talk, he walks the walk. . . we need a lot more people like him in politics. . .
Trump will spend his 8 years changing the way America does business and is setting the table so Pence can spend the following 8 years bringing God and morality back.
She’s only two years younger than Pelosi. She’s 75 and brain-damaged.
Is this guy a class act or what?
She is treading on dangerous ground.
I never would've guessed she's 75 years old, but it's a given she's brain-damaged.
I’m concerned that should something dire happen to Prez Trump that Pence would become POTUS. I like Pence, but I’m concerned he may be more like Jimmy Carter with his seemingly pacifist demeanor regarding conflicts.
