I am waiting for someone to speak up and point out that measurements of poverty do not count non-cash government benefits. So a family could be getting all their basic needs provided for them, have some cash income, and still be counted as living in poverty. Then there is also income that is not reported.
“Poverty” in America exists because of booze, drugs and just not giving a damn.

So how many of the ones that are homeless can we send you to let move into one of your huge mansions? How much of all those millions of dollars in your bank accounts are you ready to donate to the care of these children (including the from accounts you have hidden offshore)?
Whats that? Oh, you donate with your time and by giving “voice” to the problem instead of surrendering any of your questionably ill gotten wealth?
Well they are so lucky to have you giving so freely of your time to them when it could be spent in more important endevors like campaigning and giving high dollar speaches.

And welfare contributes to that. How do these people afford the booze, the drugs, the time to just meander around? Because all their basic needs are met by the taxpayers. You can’t keep people as if they were pets and expect them to maintain any dignity. Everyone must have a sense of purpose in life.
I suspect we’ll see her head in a jar barking orders before we do Hillary’s.
