Well, it’s technically always about the killer. But this one is unique in that he never should have gotten that far. Not even close. That’s why he is almost a perepheral story here. Sure, he needs to be hung, electrocuted, shot, or whatever, but the real story is his getting past several layers of keystone cops.

To use an analogy: if a shooter assassinates the president, he needs to be executed, but the real story is how the heck did he get so close to the president?

Deputies told to set up perimeter

...and they didn't even do that. After all, the guy got away and ate lunch at McDonalds (or Subway, or both).

I read an interview with the officer. He said he saw Cruz walking down the street and almost didn’t do anything, but thought he was close enough to the description that he should check.

“Coward County got the Sheriff’s department they voted for.”

Thank God Almighty they didn’t get the president they voted for.

Somebody in Broward County must have attended one of Rahm Emanuel’s seminars on Crisis Management.

She is one of three finalists for the police chief job in Tequesta, according to the Palm Beach Post.

Probably not any more...

“Captain Jan Jordan
Civil Division”

Civil Division, really? What did they do pull her out of the Sheriff’s day care center to manage a mass murder? No wonder it was FUBAR.

Well, that didn't work too well either, considering the fact that the shooter eluded the "perimeter" and was apprehended an hour later in a totally different location.

When will sheriff Israel be gone?

“Well, this is who these county, city and state governments have been hiring for at least 2+ decades now.

And people wonder why everything is so damn dysfunctional and thoroughly screwed up in government.”

You are dead on. No one in their right mind wants to go into law enforcement these days....what does that leave to hire?

Well, it’s technically always about the killer.

I certainly don't want to fan any conspiracy theories, but at this point in time, other than the reported confession of Cruz, what evidence exists that he actually was doing the shooting? Has any news media shown an interview with a student who ID'd Cruz? There should be plenty of students and teachers who saw him shooting.

One teacher reported that the shooter was masked, and in black, which would make identifying the shooter difficult for witnesses on the scene.

I'm not suggesting that Cruz isn't likely to be the perpetrator, but I would think that there would be more reporting of eyewitness accounts.

The media has done little or none investigative reporting. They have put ALL their resources into filming the anti-Trunp kids and their push for gun control.

Some perimeter - how far away was the perp when they caught him? If he had a handgun, he could have killed a few more while mingling.

“Setting up that perimeter helped. None of the victims escaped.”

But it facilitated forcing all the students to march/run away with their hands up. Cops probably threatened them with shooting. Meanwhile the murderer was browsing in Walmart.

“It’s about the collapse of law enforcement, at multiple levels.”

Which in turn is a manifestation of the general rotteness of state/local politicians.

Add that to the LONG LIST of law enforcement mistakes - letting the perp casually walk out and have a nice lunch down the street.
