The 1994 Assault Weapon Ban classified the Remington 870 pump action shotgun an “assault weapon” if it was all black and had a pistol grip instead of a normal stock.
That is all they gave us in Army ROTC.
The USMC spends a bit more time on marksmanship than the other branches. In order to qualify I had to be able to hit a man sized target at 600 yards with a rack grade M16. No scope, just the iron sights.
You cant learn that in an afternoon.

Guys would do a hitch in the army, go to college, and come out as an AF Second LT. Not a lot. But I knew someone who went from the Army to the AF.
I guess he was tired of getting to fat for his BDUs. The blue is more “slimming.”
Exactly what I was thinking. LOL indeed.
I have an AR15 in sub sonic 300 blackout. No silencer yet, the ATF application is pending. But, the rounds are still very very accurate.
Hmmm ? What’s he drop at 100yds?
To a liberal, even a Pop-Tart chewed into gunlike shape is scary looking!
I know the tables say I should expect about 6-9 inches, but it doesn’t seem like that much. I may have built in some drop to my scope adjustments before going sub sonic and I don’t have a laser to really see.
“The USMC spends a bit more time on marksmanship...”
Yes, well, I probably spent a lot more time learning how to put 2000 lb bombs on target, that being my primary weapon in the USAF. M-16 training was every 3 years for us IIRC, and just a day with a couple hours of range time.
When I went to Afghanistan, they sent us to a course at Ft Sill that included shooting the M4 & M9. Not a course meant to make us marksmen, but OK out to 200 yards.
At home, now long retired, I prefer my 357 revolvers.
I prefer my 357 revolvers.
A fine choice.

Just showed this to my daughter. When she stopped laughing she said, “ what a pussy”
You are obviously a good parent.
Yup. Fully automatic shotgun with a high magazine clip for the missiles. See them all the time.
A few years back I actually heard a reporter refer to a double action revolver as an automatic pistol.
In my personal opinion, you have to receive a whole lot of training to use this weapon......Oh. Just. Sweet. Jesus.
At least not with an “assault” rifle.
But watch out for those .50’s....
Taught both my girls to shoot every firearm I have. They shoot right and left handed. They were taught all the safety rules first, then they learn how to breakdown and clean each one before they were allowed to shoot them. My 19 yo is better than I am with the 9 mm. Boy scouting was great!
My brother was the range master at the summer camp
ROFL!!!
“Save me Dolly Parton!”
Air Force?
Sounds like it. One day of both familiarization and shooting for both the M-16 and the S&W Model 15 Combat Masterpiece (38 Spl pistol). That is what I had for official Air Force training and annual qualifications were half a day.
