Don't Attack Lefty Human Shields
FRONTPAGEMAG ^ | February 21, 2018 | Daniel Greenfield

Posted on 02/22/2018 6:26:53 AM PST by Subcutaneous Fishstick Blues

Remember Sandra Fluke?

The Democrats brought her in to undermine religious freedom with a ridiculous story about being unable to afford birth control. They brought her in because she was an earnest, young woman. And a human shield. Republicans should have ignored her. Instead they attacked her. And that made her a celebrity and a victim. Soon she was the young woman who had been called a "slut".

Fluke rode that to a speaking gig at the DNC, where she claimed to represent all women, and several attempts to run for Congress.

Most importantly, the left got to shift the conversation from the religious freedom of nuns to whether the right hates female sexuality. That's exactly the conversation it wanted to have.

It happened because Republicans took the bait. Never take the bait unless you have a plan.

President Trump brought a lot of guests to the State of the Union. Democrats didn't attack them. They ignored them. (Some did in private and on Twitter, but not in ways that would get them noticed in a media environment controlled by them. Yes, it's an unfair double standard, but that's the structural power differential.)

When you attack someone like that, you shoot yourself in the foot. And you kickstart an activist's career.

That's especially true when you're dealing with teens who have little life experience and whose politics will change three of four times in the next decade. No, 16-year-olds shouldn't vote. The only people who think they should are very confident about controlling their votes. But neither should they be in the middle of a rough political game. The left is using them as human shields. The way that the Taliban and other Islamic terrorists hide behind human shields. Don't attack the shields. When you do, the guys behind them win because, unlike Afghanistan, this is a 'Hearts and Minds' war.

Now maybe it's inescapable. The media was always going to write this narrative. But the smart way is to go after the men behind the curtain, not the teens in front of it.

Pull back the curtain on the Everytown scam. Make it clear that it all comes down to Bloomberg. Challenge the hypocrisy of George Clooney and Oprah, who have armed guards, funding protests to disarm ordinary Americans.

Pick the terrain you fight on. Don't let the left pull you into the battles it wants to fight.

I think everyone of these little pukes should be offered a 2 week stay in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico. So they can become educated on how Gun Control works in real life

They should All jump at the chance to visit a utopian paradise where ALL GUNS ARE ILLEGAL. after a couple weeks they should have a good understanding on gun control

I will kick in $10,000 for any Student that wants to go

This article advocates surrender. What matters is HOW you do the criticism — stick to the facts, make sure they are right, and avoid venting. It’s the latter that gets many conservatives in trouble.

The world would be a better place if more people listened to Daniel Greenfield. Hitting the cute puppets is a no win. Knockout the puppeteers.

Arming teachers is not a good solution to the problem. Accidental discharges might happen when teachers are having sex with the student.

Why would you want to send them to a FOREIGN country where the language is one they don’t understand.
A simple trip up NORTH to the city of CHICAGO, where many people do speak English, and in a city with the most stringent GUN LAWS in this country would cost you a lot less money.
That is a PERFECT example of the “safety” under a regime of strict “gun Control”.

After the next school shooting, CNN will have the kids stand on top of the bodies for their interviews.

The Democrats are now using the CHILDREN as HUMAN SHIELDS, just like the Muslims do.

I will go for raising that age at which a gun can be bought as long as the same applies to voting.

If these gun control kids believe they themselves cant be trusted with a gun till 21 then they cant be trusted to vote either.

Good reasoning.

The only thing the Left is good at is Propaganda. They have real problems dealing with reality.

They know how to destroy and confiscate things, but not how to build or create anything.

Greenfield is usually spot on, but he misses the mark with this one.

The way to attack so-called human shields is to make them not want to be human shields anymore.

By ignoring them as Greenfield suggests, he allows them to bask in their limelight and feel like they won something. What needs to happen is for reasoned adults to be seen in contrast to them (preferably on the same stage), taking their disrespectful righteously indignant barbs and deflecting them with real-world experiential solutions. These adults must debate the students into logical holes where they become frustrated, angry, and irrational in response. They must be confronted with facts, statistics, prior legislations, and other historical evidence that student minds haven't absorbed yet.

The students must be made to feel embarrassed by their youth and inexperience, as Ronald Reagan once quipped, such that they would think twice before fronting for an issue again until they are mentally and emotionally prepared for the rebuttals, and until they can comport themselves respectfully towards more accomplished people than themselves.

If so, that solves another problem. (not serious)

But we should not have teacher who don’t have sense enough to do that crap.

Well that’s nice sentiment and all but the leftists attack “our human shields all the time and they’re bit worried about making activists out of us.

They also tend to be successful at shutting down our humans shields too.

I don’t think the articles author has properly assessed the situation.

I chose Mexico over Chicago or Baltimore because of the undying love and affection so many peoiple have for that shithole of a country they fled and are deathly afraid of returning to while proudly waving the M3exican Flag, no doubt they will all have friends that are from Mexico and it might just open their eyes a little.

Political Junkie is totally correct: If the kiddies want to wade into the adult end of the pool, then they'd better bring more than just their raw feelings into the convo, 'cuz their so-called arguments will (and should) be lovingly and thoroughly dismantled, thereby giving this little lambs still another reason to cry all day long.

I am normally 100% in agreement with everything Daniel Greenfield writes, but I disagree with his sentiments to a degree.

I simply don’t think the human shields in this case should be left alone.

It doesn’t mean we have to have ad hominem attacks on them, because unlike real human shields, these “kids” have made a choice to enter this arena, and are doing so solidly on the side of enemies of America.

Granted, some of them are going through the traditional “leftist” time of their lives that many young people go through, and they may change unless WE harden them and push them fully into the Leftist camp.

Instead of Human Shields which have no choice in the matter, I think of some of these students more in the mold of John Walker Lindh, rather than the little boy Saddam Hussein was cozying up to prior to the Gulf War (who was truly a human shield). That sounds harsh, but John Walker Lindh was as immature as these young people here, his direct actions simply couldn’t be accounted for with the leeway we should we these young people.

If you substitute “Treasonous inclinations” in John Walker Lindh with “heads full of clay willing to be shaped by leftists” in the case of some of these kids, the end result is pretty much the same.

They are being used. They are being groomed. They feel important. They are getting attention. They are being used to attack America. And the key thing here is, they are doing it emotionally, not logically. They are being used as tools.

We don’t have to attack them directly and personally. But the fact that they are being used as tools is very much in play. If we call them “Useful Idiots” (which is an appropriate moniker) they and their emotional brethren will perceive that as an ad hominem attack and take it personally as such.

But I guarantee, those clear-eyed anti-American scum who are being “shielded” by them know full well what they are, and if you could give them truth serum would smile a smug smile and say “Of course they are our Useful Idiots. How would we ever get anything done without them? These Useful Idiots are quite valuable to us due to their age and malleability.”

What these young people don’t understand is that granting the freedom to Americans to own guns results in occasionally murdered people lying on the ground, on rare occasions like the shooting at their school, more than one at at time.

But the more important thing these young people CRITICALLY don’t understand, is that taking away that freedom of the citizenry to own guns results in ditches full of hundreds or thousands of murdered people, and usually at the hands of the type of people who are grooming these young people RIGHT NOW with attention and guidance right now to suit their political ends.

And Useful Idiots of all ages have historically ended up in those ditches as well, screaming with puzzlement and fear “Why are you doing this? I support you! I’m on YOUR side!” as they are slaughtered by the very people they wanted to help achieve their political ends.

But these young people have no way of grasping or knowing that. They can’t. They don’t understand (or intentionally do not wish to see) the importance of history and precedent as tools to avoid the mistakes of the past. That is the epitome of Leftism right there.

And I think we need to fight that. We don’t have to attack those young people directly, we should have compassion for what they have experienced, and understanding that to a teenager who knows everything, they don’t know that they cannot see an issue from all ends, and we need to try to take that into account.
