Jared Kushner’s Security Clearance Issues Roiling White House

The White House said Jared Kushner will not be affected by any policy changes made regarding security clearances, even though he still has an interim security clearance 13 months into the job. “Nothing that has taken place will affect the valuable work that Jared is doing,” Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said at the White House briefing on Tuesday.

Chief of Staff John Kelly last week ordered changes to how the White House manages security clearance investigations, after staffer Rob Porter continued to access top secret material even after claims of domestic abuse by two ex-wives were reported to the FBI.

Porter had been working under an interim security clearance, raising scrutiny over the 30 to 40 White House staffers who are also working with interim security clearances, including the president’s son-in-law and adviser Jared Kushner.

The new policy limits new interim clearances to a maximum of 270 days, and cuts off any Top Secret or Sensitive-Compartmented-Information (TS/SCI) level interim clearances for individuals whose investigations or adjudications have been pending since June 1, 2017, or before.

Get rid of Jared now, especially before he can betray Israel with his pointless “peace plan.”

He has actually voiced support for all those positions. He has proposed amnesty for 1.8 million. He has actually done those things

As a loyal President Trump fan from the day he announced, having Kushner and Ivanka around does not cause me to change on supporting the President; However! If Clinton had won (God forbid) and she had Chelsea and her hubby in the WH as advisors I would be livid. Keeping Kushner and Ivanka around is not a good plan at all.

Saying and doing are two very different things. No one got amnesty. The. 2nd is no different than it was a week ago.

Good post there (#43). Pretty much says it all.

I too support Trump, and desperately want to see him succeed. And I get that Trump has great trust in his daughter and son-in-law. But there has got to be more qualified people out there for advisers.

Nepotism rarely works out well.

How many remember that when co-presidents Bill and Hillary Clinton took over the White House in 1993 they basically said no to Secret Service background security checks for many in their new staff?

They knew many of the people they brought in had such radical histories that they would not pass the standard security checks.

This is well documented in many books although it has become more difficult to find straightforward articles about it on the internet.

Here is on article that gives the facts - sort of - but whitewashes the cause.

I agree. I don’t trust Kushner as it is.

I don’t think haters is what they are. I think it boils down to get that security clearance and/or it looks like he has “special” advantages.

I don’t hate Kushner nor do I like him. My instinct is that I cannot trust him.

I was against Kushner’s influnce from the start.

I was wrong.

The entire sea change in the middle east is largely due to him, working quietly behind the scenes, and in concert with Hailey.

It is masterful.

Wow there a lot of pathetic haters on this thread

Jared and Ivanka are a malign liberal influence on their father-in-law/father. They're despised by many here for very good reasons. You'd be screaming bloody murder over nepotism if any politician other than Trump appointed his daughter and son-in-law to such high advisory positions in spite of their utter lack of qualifications and their lack of ideological fit with the very agenda that got Trump elected.

What’s the big deal? Some/most of the people in the Clinton White House worked the entire 8 years without security clearances.

“”Wow there a lot of pathetic haters on this thread!””

I agree - like a bunch of lemmings. Whoever posts the first criticism, the rest fall into line.

If Trump goes down, Kushner will have something to do with it.
