It’s not about bump stocks.

Here in Washington State some dem wrote some bill to ban bump stocks and other modifications that would increase the rate of fire of a gun. Spelled out in the bill was something about “trigger modifications”. Which of course would mean buying a kit or having a gunsmith work on your trigger-pull to make it smoother, lighter, etc. I would think that a simple rifle sling could be construed someday to allow one to “increase the rate of fire”. Well - accurate fire anyway. Scopes, red dots, lasers, flashlights - all of that stuff allows one to increase the rate of fire for accurate shots.
It’s not about bump stocks? I thought that is what got banned?
It’s about caving and saying that guns are the problem, he conceded that major point to the gun-grabbers, the blood is in the water, and the sharks are coming.

Calm down, we aren’t saying we won’t vote for Trump.
At the same time, we aren’t going to sit here and keep our mouths shut when he does something we disagree with.
And remember, it’s not as if, he is a true-blue conservative, although he’s done a good job playing one since being elected.
But we can’t help to think that this is one case where his inner Rat is coming out.
No. This is about banning bump stocks. And that’s it. I’m a veteran and a owner. I have zero issue with this, mainly because I am a reasonable human being that does not think something as trivial as this is a threat of any kind to my rights. I also do not have any irrational fear about massive confiscations or an inability to protect myself from a tyrannical monarch over this. In other words, calm the F down.
The media isn't as big a problem as the avalanche of public opinion. An absolute refusal to even consider any changes whatsoever when the public is horrified by a mass shooting gives the impression that the people's right to own bump stocks is more important than the safety of children.
A lot of the public is demanding that "something be done". Either Trump will be able to reassure the public that he takes the matter seriously and "did something", or the general public will turn the matter over to the dems to "do something". I'd rather that the "something" be as meaningless a concession as possible, and that isn't likely if the dems are given control of the situation.
What else is he going to do this on....DACA?

The NRA and Trump are wrong on this one. Banning things does not stop psychopathic murderers. It does, however, encourage psychopathic tyrants (and wannabe tyrants). Appeasement never works. Nazi Pelousy and Chuck Schumer will just come back looking for more.
I thought the NRA changed and came out against banning Bump Stocks.
