Europe has pretty much banned the ownership of guns yet the bad guys manage to show up with guns from time to time.

When guns aren't available they resort to trucks.

When trucks aren't available they resort to knives.

The 9-1-1 hijackers used boxcutters and three airplanes to attack us.

A person committed to harming you will use whatever means are at their disposal to do so.

If I was an eloquent writer, this could have been me or many on this site that wrote this. Not feeling very optimistic about the future of America.

Strange days.

“We built a culture in which celebrity is our highest aspiration...”............

Its obvious Cruz got his “celebrity” status, who’s going to be next? I predict that we will soon see another such shooting be it in a school, factory, mall, Walmart, etc. It’s inevitable. Ours has become a very sick society!

Hopefully, Trump is a leader who is not "imprisoned" in the "progressive" ideological mindset--especially when it comes to the inherent threats to liberty when children are propagandized by ideologues from K-12 through graduate school.

Perhaps the appointment of DeVos may be an indication of the possibility of inculcating a love of liberty and freedom in the minds of youth by freeing them from a one-size-fits-all mentality which highlights mediocrity, not excellence.

For instance, one can hope that Trump and DeVos may be able to look behind the numbers of citizens in prisons and examine the possible connections between Progressive control of the public "education" system and the number of youth in prisons.

Clearly, anyone who speaks out against the Dept. of Education and all of the other multitudinous Progressive bureaucracies that control the propagandizing of children over the past few decades in the name of "educating" them must be willing to be marginalized by the media and politicians; but in order to understand the increase in prison populations, one must look behind the numbers and the crimes and examine objectively contributing facts to the cultural changes which may have brought them to where they are today. Progressives seldom do that, relying, instead on whatever the current Progressive narrative seems to be.

Even as early as the Year 1886, serious efforts to make that link were treated badly by the political structure of the day. At that date, today's self-identified "progressives" called themselves "liberals," though not in the "classical liberal" tradition.

Examine the case of an accomplished man by the name of Zacharias Montgomery who was denied an important post in government for doing just that. You will read some of his words below.

With that said, those who love liberty must be willing to come forward to declare that it is better to be remembered for standing on and articulating enduring principles of right versus wrong, liberty versus tyranny, than to be praised by the mainstream media and so-called "progressives."

Here are excerpted portions of the words of Zacharias Montgomery in his 1886 Book entitled "Poison Drops in the United States Senate . . . ." Although his treatise dealt primarily with the public school question, the following remarks might be helpful to those who, today, are concerned by what passes for "public education."

Excerpts from Zacharias Montgomery:

"My countrymen, disguise the fact as we may, there is in this country to-day, and in both the political Parties, an element which is ripe for a centralized despotism. There are men and corporations of vast wealth, whose iron grasp spans this whole continent, and who find it more difficult and more expensive to corrupt thirty odd State Legislatures than one Federal Congress. It was said of Nero of old that he wished the Roman people had but one head, so that he might cut it off at a single blow. And so it is with those moneyed kings who would rule this country through bribery, fraud, and intimidation.

"It is easy to see how, with all the powers of government centered at Washington in one Federal head, they could at a single stroke put an end to American liberty. "But they well understand that before striking this blow the minds of the people must be prepared to receive it. And what surer or safer preparation could possibly be made than is now being made, by indoctrinating the minds of the rising generation with the idea that ours is already a consolidated government ; that the States of the Union have no sovereignty which is not subordinate to the will and pleasure of the Federal head, and that our Constitution is the mere creature of custom, and may therefore be legally altered or abolished by custom.

"Such are a few of the pernicious and poisonous doctrines which ten millions of American children are today drinking in with the very definitions of the words they are compelled to study. And yet the man who dares to utter a word of warning of the approaching danger is stigmatized as an enemy to education and unfit to be mentioned as a candidate for the humblest office.

"Be it so. Viewing this great question as I do, not for all the offices in the gift of the American people would I shrink from an open and candid avowal of my sentiments. If I have learned anything from the reading of history, it is that the man who, in violation of great principles, toils for temporary fame, purchases for himself either total oblivion or eternal infamy, while he who temporarily goes down battling for right principles always deserves, and generally secures, the gratitude of succeeding ages, and will carry with him the sustaining solace of a clean conscience, more precious than all the offices and honors in the gift of man.

"History tells us that Aristides was voted into banishment because he was just. Yet who would not a thousand times rather today be Aristides than be numbered amongst the proudest of his persecutors.

"Socrates, too, in violation of every principle of justice, was condemned to a dungeon and to death. Yet what name is more honored in history than his? And which of his unjust judges would not gladly, hide himself in the utter darkness of oblivion from the withering scorn and contempt of all mankind?

"From the noble example of Aristides and of Socrates let American statesmen learn wisdom, and from the undying infamy of their cowardly time-serving persecutors let political demagogues of today take warning."

So said Zacharias Montgomery in 1886. Read his complete work HERE.

Anyone who reads his complete volume will realize the wisdom and farsightedness of Montgomery's ability to see the consequences of what his fellow Americans were advocating in the area of education of youth.

Montgomery's analysis of what he called a "parental" system of education versus an "anti-parental" system was backed up by analytical documentation from public records. Please review pages 19 through 43 for statistical summaries from those records. Make up your own mind about the validity of this official's work. Such an examination, conducted in 2018, might be enlightening on the subject of this thread.

Aspirations for stardom are fine except when it becomes “by all means necessary.”

Bring back insane asylums and make the prison system more rigid. There’s no fear of repercussions or consequences in any aspect of our modern lives. Prisons are luxury resorts anymore.

And for the love of God get the federal government out of the business of education. Let the states mind their own business. We’ll see very quickly what systems work the best.

El Borak must have been reading my posts for the last week. America is turning into a godless society that is removing the guardrails of our precious Constitution. Its first two Amendments are those guardrails: self protection and religion. There are individuals behind these efforts to undermine America. We must seek them out because they are the treasonous instigators.

Absolutely, he is correct. Boys are getting worked over from grade school upward. The girly curriculum is girl slanted to reject boys.

There are now no recesses. All women teachers. Boys get to be girled up in the system, the curriculum and in the flagrant bias that wants them drugged up, since the 80’s.

Go figure.

Conservatives don’t care. They send their kids off to these camps the same as Leftists, never attend a school board meeting, run for nothing, chasing their own careers and entertainment.

I was discussing with my wife, the situation in schools regarding the shooting. That they teach kids to duck and hide under desks should a shooting situation happen. Then they become ducks waiting to be slaughtered. I said, why not ask for volunteers to practice at rushing an attacker and try to take him down before a mass slaughter happens? All boys don't have to be sissies, some could work as a team to stop an assault. After all, some teachers acted bravely to shield students. If a large group rushed the attacker some would die but many could survive. If this sounds far-fetched, think about the three American heroes in the Eastwood movie about the train in Paris where they stopped a mass killer by rushing him while others cowered in fear.

What Did We Think Was Going To Happen?

Posted by El Borak | Feb 19, 2018 | Children, Culture | 7

Everyone, it seems, has a magic bullet that’s going to end school shootings. It’s part of our culture. The left wants one simple law passed and the right another repealed. Everyone on Twitter is a policy expert, Facebook is filled with solutions that are foolproof and simple and yet somehow overlooked, at least to the experts posting them.

I have bad news for you. No one is going to end school shootings because schools shootings are not the real problem. So be prepared for them to get worse and to not be limited to schools. When your culture falls apart, the people in it fall apart. Some of them turn into TrigglyPuff. Some turn into Nikolas Cruz.

But what did we expect was going to happen? That’s not a rhetorical question, except in the sense that no one really thought to ask it.

We built a culture in which celebrity is our highest aspiration. From “Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous” to “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo”, we have taught our kids that being rich, being famous, being glamorous is what’s important. When we cut ourselves loose from any virtue higher than others’ opinions of us, no one thought it would result in a generation of teens who eat Tide Pods for a few Youtube clicks. Because no one ever thought.

We built a culture that promotes confusion. We tore down all barriers related to morality, especially sexual morality. We started with serial monogamy and hookup culture and moved right into married gays and bent genders. Now after 12 years of sex education our kids don’t even know what sex they are. We purposely tore down every protective social wall that humanity spent the previous 5 millennia constructing. No one ever thought to ask why they were constructed in the first place. Because no one ever thought.

We built a culture that promotes unresolvable interpersonal conflict. No more are we one nation under God; we are not under God at all, nor are we a nation. We are but intersectionalities of aggrieved classes, competing for the most oppression points by demonizing our fellow citizens for the original sin of being born white or male or straight or with 2 legs. We have set an entire generation against itself with manufactured claims of oppression. Did we truly not think that some of them would take up arms against the others or that a few would seek to destroy the many? We did not think at all.

We built a culture where drugs could take the place of discipline. Got a boy with ants in his pants? Instead of working with him to build his self control, we give him a drug. He can’t concentrate? Take this pill*. Don’t want chicken pox? Get this shot. Don’t have time to eat right? Here’s some processed cheese food and some deep fried GMO corn chips. Did we ever wonder what would happen to his developing brain when we pumped it full of these chemicals? No, we didn’t.

A 60-year-old sporting rifle is not the problem.

So now we have raised a generation of angry, bitter, drug-addled, under-developed aspiring rappers who don’t know who they are and never learned how to deal with life’s most common setbacks. We cut them loose without support on an America that has lost its way, lost its finances, lost its vision, and lost its history. Then we are surprised at the results.

What did we think was going to happen if we did this? We didn’t think at all.

We’re in a hole of our own making. It’s a deep hole. It’s so deep and so big that I do not believe we are collectively coming out of it. The monsters are already among us, the barbarians are inside the gates. And our culture creates more of them every day. We will not all escape.

But you can and your family can, if you’re willing to break free from it, to come out of her, my people. If you’re truly serious, you can almost guarantee that while you cannot stop school shootings, at least they will not affect you and yours. And you will raise well-adjusted, decent human beings to boot.

First Step: Homeschool or die. I don’t want to hear why you can’t do it. In three decades as a homeschooling parent, I’ve heard your excuse. Either it’s important enough to you that you work through your roadblocks, or it’s not. Your choice.

Second step: turn off the damned TV. Our poisonous culture is delivered to our kids electronically, and it is parents who fund it. Hollywood has no money that regular Americans didn’t give it. It is a cesspool that is purposely corrupting your children, purposely destroying beauty and virtue and love. Everything you hold dear, it destroys. Cut it out of your life.

Get away from the city. That world is too big for kids. A high school of 3,000 students is a factory. It alienates kids. It harms them in ways that are impossible to measure and difficult to comprehend. Every school shooter you’ve heard of came out of public schools, most of them suburban. Instead find a nice small town where they can establish deep and long-lasting relationships, not only with people their age, but with older people. Find a place where they can know and be known, a place small enough that they matter. They can’t put down roots in concrete.

Build a culture of life in your home and community. Pray for and with your kids. Teach them to hunt and to garden, to train a dog and change a diaper. Teach them that decisions have eternal consequences. Teach them about the importance of sex, of marriage, of faithfulness. They will not be cool in the world’s eyes; neither will they be destroyed by the world’s coldness. Teach them that their happiness is not the highest virtue and they will be happier than any of their peers.

School shootings will not be solved because they are but a symptom of the real problem. They are the hacking cough of a man with lung cancer; cough drops, no matter how strong, will do no good. We are accelerating into a full-blown cultural meltdown. And we cannot turn it around without radical surgery, without monumental effort, without considerable sacrifice. In reality, we are probably going to ride it right through to hell, at full speed, with tens of millions of our fellow Americans cheering the whole way.

Can’t they see where this road leads? What are they thinking? They are not thinking at all.

* No worries that its side effects can include suicidal and/or murderous thoughts. That’s just there because of lawyers.

Many causes coming together in the perfect storm.

1. WW II put women in the workforce, so stay-at-home moms withered afterward.
2. Rise of easy divorce.
3. Legalization of abortion inured everybody to the evil of murder of innocents.
4. Moral Codes disappeared from movies. They never existed for music and video games. Rap is horrifically violent. Young minds hearing it for years internalize the message.
5. School prayer ended.
6.Welfare broke apart tens of millions of families.
8. The rise of 24 hour news channels where everybody could become famous (more correctly, notorious) for a few days and the channels, desperate to fill their insatiable demand for content, broadcast the sick events nonstop for days.
9. First person shooter games messing up weak minds.
10. The liberals released mental incompetents from asylums in the 70s. It is now much harder to get a mental incompetent institutionalized.
11. The pill ushered in free sex furthermore hurting marriage and the nuclear family.
12. Liberal indoctrination killed God and church attendance declined drastically.
13.Internet social media and YouTube again makes it easy to make people famous / notorious.
14. Incompetent law enforcement focused on bringing down a President rather than following up on serious concerns.
15. Zero discipline in schools, again caused by liberals.
16. Liberal “self-esteem” programs.

The Second Amendment is not on the above list.
This is probably not a comprehensive list nor are all these factors necessarily involved in every mass shooting.
How can we return to normalcy? Frankly, I don’t think we can. It’s like Islamic jihad — nobody ever heard of it 30 or 40 years ago, but it was let out of Pandora’s Box Andy is here to stay.
