what is wrong with tougher background checks?

Have you ever purchased a firearm in the US? The media doesn't portray the process accurately.

Very helpful! Thanks for the trouble you went to post this. I really am green when it comes to any gun purchasing, but understand that an armed citizenry is the only thing that keeps a tyrannical regime at bay. North Korea would not be North Korea with an armed population.

Ok, at the risk of being eviscerated because of lack of knowledge, what is wrong with tougher background checks?

Well, I have no idea what Trump means by the term, but when the tyrants use it (ref the imaginary "gun show loophole"), what they mean is background checks for any transfer, whether FFL or say to your own child. And there's nothing to stop them from using it as an illegal gun ownership registry. THEN, throw in the fact that they could make the background checks anonymous and don't, then you see that background checks aren't the real objective. Besides, when does a liberal EVER want something for the reason he says he wants it? (Talking Dens here and not necessarily Trump)

Short answer, eternal vigilance is the price of liberty. Unless it's physically impossible for them to use a new power to enable tyranny, that's what is for, no matter what they say.

In a great irony, ‘tougher’ background checks only confirm what we already know: law-abiding gun owners aren’t the problem.

Actually, what they mean by "tougher" background checks is they want them on private purchases as well.

They replaced the “school to prison pipeline” with a “school to cemetery pipeline”.

Good job liberals, as always.

One might say it was a “feel good” job, liberals...

Assault rifles are already heavily restricted.

You must live in an unfree state. An AR-15 (what I assume you are referring to) is CASH AND CARRY here in Alabama after filling out the 4473 form. And the form is an infringement.

I believe the original poster was commenting about actual assault rifles. An AR-15 is not one.

And, in 2021... Posting to a conservative forum in 2018 becomes a “behavioral issue” and you lose your firearms.

Fixed that for ya. Since nothing ever disappears from the internet, you know they'd go there.
