When winning is everything, sportsmanship is forgotten.
Sessions has recused himself.
Nifong appointed special prosecutor.
Say what you will about Bobby Knight, he ran arguably the cleanest basketball program in the NCAA.
You will note: “ It has been five months since the FBI arrested 10 men...” Par for the course for the FBI. Thirty years for the Mafia, two years for Trump, etc.
The NCAA could clean up college athletics very quickly by using polygraphs. If there is any hint that a recruit or the family of a recruit has received anything of value to influence the recruit’s decision, then punish the college not the recruit. Unannounced spot checks should also be used. This should also include grades, class attendance, and genuine progress toward a degree.
I am always amused at the NCAA commercials that tout education. Yet I have never seen a compressive study of what happens to the college athletes (those that fail to turn pro) after they leave college. Did I miss the study or is this something the NCAA wants to ignore.
In basketball, breaking rules is the accepted norm
Fouling in the last two minutes of the fourth quarter to gain time is in fact premeditated rule breaking and certainly the visible tip of the iceberg
I think a team that is fouled should have the option of resetting the shot clock and keeping possession instead of having to shoot free throws.
