President Trump's tweet today indicates that he may release the Democratic memo, but only once the authors of the document make the suggested changes. Trump alleges that the Democrats "would have blamed the White House for lack of transparency" had he decided to release a redacted memo.

Trump should hire me as an adviser, because, he's doing precisely what I suggested a few days ago:

What Trump should do is to send the democrats’ memo back to Schiff. Then, Schiff can use the Nunes memo as an example of the type of information that can be contained in a memo. Trump nor the FBI should have to change the memo. Let the democrats modify it to comply with intelligence regulations, and then, Trump can review it and release it if complies (with) expected FBI snd CIA and DOJ regulations.

:)

As with DACA, the Democrats don’t want a solution they want the issue.

Bingo. Just wait until we hear the caterwauling on the Sunday talking head shows this morning that PDJT is preventing the Dim's from releasing their "memo"....

Trump released the Nunes memo in the face of DOJ and FBI opposition. The Democrats will not revise the memo but instead will sit on it and accuse Trump of using his office to hide the truth. It suits their purposes better that way.

-- Trump released the Nunes memo in the face of DOJ and FBI opposition. --

The FBI objection to public disclosure of the Nunes memo was expressed in an unsigned press release that made no specific reference to the contents of the Nunes memo.

The FBI takes seriously its obligations to the FISA Court and its compliance with procedures overseen by career professionals in the Department of Justice and the FBI. We are committed to working with the appropriate oversight entities to ensure the continuing integrity of the FISA process. With regard to the House Intelligence Committee's memorandum, the FBI was provided a limited opportunity to review this memo the day before the committee voted to release it. As expressed during our initial review, we have grave concerns about material omissions of fact that fundamentally impact the memo's accuracy.

The DOJ objection to public disclosure of the Nunes memo was expressed in a letter by Assistant AG Stephen E. Boyd, who had not even seen the Nunes memo; and who was requesting a review before the HPSCI voted to disclose the Nunes memo to the public.

Compare the objections raised with respect to the Nunes memo with the DOJ and FBI objections to public disclosure of the Schiff memo expressed in a letter to Counsel to the President, Donald F. McGahn II

Dear Mr. McGahn:

At your office's request, the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) have reviewed the January 29, 2018 memorandum from the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI) Minority to all Members of the House of Representatives. Specifically, you have asked us to identify the information about which DOJ and the FBI would have national security or law enforcement concerns if released publicly.

Enclosed please find a version of the document that identities, in highlighted text, information the release of which would present such concerns in light of longstanding principles regarding the protection of intelligence sources and methods, ongoing investigations, and other similarly sensitive information. We have further identified, in red boxes, the subset of such information for which national security or law enforcement concerns are especially significant. Our determinations have taken into account the information previously declassified by the President as communicated in a letter to HPSCI Chairman Devin Nunes dated February 2, 2018.

Sincerely,

Rod J. Rosenstein
Deputy Attorney General

Christopher A. Wray
Director
Federal Bureau of Investigation

They won't be able to sit on the memo as it is, and Trump has already rejected it and sent it back. The ball is on their court now. There is no further negotiations necessary. Trump is not at fault here, and democrats know it, no matter how much spinning they attempt.

Plus, democrats have a "sample memo" to serve as a guide for "improving" their memo, even if the contents are different.

They also would have blamed him if he had released classified information. They would have claimed they weren’t the experts on that. They would have said that the executive branch are the experts on classification. So they were hoping to get him one way or the other. Damned if he did and damned if he didn’t

They were against the GOP releasing the memo and yet they want their memo released. Also all republicans voted to release their memo, and yet not one Dem voted to release the GOP’s memo, and yet complain they should have it released in all fairness.

hypocrites.

“Trump should hire me as an adviser, because, he’s doing precisely what I suggested a few days ago”

isn’t it the truth ... same here ... however, great minds and all of that ... Trump doesn’t need us so far ... he’s handling things pretty much the way we’d advise him to handle them ...

“Where is the security outcry from the Dems, mediots and FBI over their release of a memo?”

yeah, funny thing about that, hey?

“As with DACA, the Democrats don’t want a solution they want the issue.”

i never thought about it that way before, but it’s so true, and that’s a great way to put it. and not just ANY issues either, like more free stuff issues, or LGBTQERTY issues, etc., but specifically “get Trump” issues seem to be the only issues the Dems are truly interested in right now. and I wonder if that’s really going to play with unaligned voters who are paying attention ...

great movie, great character and great actor! Gary Cole was also awesome as Reese Bobby, the father, in “talladega nights”.

“They were quite vocal against making the GOP authored memos public.”

99% of that was fake news from anonymous sources.

so who’s the sole remaining democrat floating in the coffin at the end? Hillary? Schumer? Durbin? Schiff? Or maybe the whole lot of them?

I see a great political cartoon after the midterms, namely all four of the above in the floating coffin with your quote as the caption, and Trump as the great white whale with a rope in his mouth pulling a distinguishing whaling ship labeled “Democrats” into the depths.

VERY smart move on the part of Trump to make the Dems themselves amend their memo to remove the classified parts which they put in solely for the purpose of forcing Trump to either shred it with redactions or simply refuse to allow it to be released.

No kidding. This is what fighting back looks like. Trump is showing the GOP how it's done.
