Memo Co-Author Trey Gowdy Says It “Won’t Have Any Impact” On Mueller’s Russia Probe
Newz Sentinel ^ | 2-4-2018

Accusations that the firing of Special Counsel Bob Mueller would provoke a “constitutional crisis” have percolated since the release of the long-anticipated “FISA memo” two days ago, as at least one House Republican has said he will push for a probe into “abuses” and possible”treason” by several senior DOJ officials.

But increasingly, some of the White House’s most steadfast political allies have played down the memo’s impact, with Chief of Staff John Kelly saying he thought House Intel Committee Chairman Devin Nunes’ claims were overblown. And now, South Carolina Rep. Trey Gowdy – who has presumably been freed to speak his mind after announcing his retirement from Congress – is saying he doesn’t expect the memo to impact the Mueller probe.

Gowdy, the chairman of the House Oversight Committee, was asked about Trump’s claim that the memo “totally vindicates” him in the Russia probe. As Trump’s political allies so often must do, Gowdy tried to sanitize the leader of his party’s comments by saying Trump was probably just “frustrated” by House Intel Committee ranking member Adam Schiff “prejudging” the investigation.

“I’m sure the president is frustrated. You know, Adam Schiff prejudged the investigation before we interviewed the first witness,” Gowdy, a former prosecutor, said during the interview.

“So I’m sure that that instructs some of what he said. I actually don’t think it is has any impact on the Russia probe for this reason.”

Asked to clarify whether he believes the memo will have an impact on the Russia probe, Gowdy probably surprised his interviewer when he answered “not to me it doesn’t”.

As Gowdy explains, the “Trump dossier” has nothing to do with Don Jr.’s meeting with a Russian lawyer at Trump Tower, it doesn’t apply to a certain email sent by Cambridge Analytica to Wikileaks...

Or maybe he is now ready and available to step into some other “role” ... Trump is not stupid, the deep state has made their inevitable fate, it’s like shooting fish in a barrel.

I believe that Mueller is part of the Obama/Clinton plan to screw POTUS Trump. He needs to go and be investigated himself.

Perhaps I should've opined: It appears Gowdy has been turned,  but the fact of his preposterous cheerleading remains for all to see.

If anyone truly knows what's going on in that DC snake pit, it surely ain't me.

“Trey Gowdy says no, that the FISA warrant would have been granted in any case and the so called dossier did not have a decisive impact.”

Does anyone know did he actually say this? If he did he just ripped up memo and tossed it in the trash.

“NOW. WFT exactly were you expecting the dude (Gowdy) to do?”

Stop wasting time on his hearings that, in spite of all his hype and TV posturing, never end up with any conclusions, any damning evidence, and any follow-on actions, like document recovery and exposure, contempt citations, and a whole lot of other things Democrats have no problem doing when they are in charge.

Heck, even Adam Schiffhead can do more as a minority congressman than Gowdy and Ryan seem to do.

You Gowdy haters are all the same, when in a frothing dervish frenzy we forget the Constitution. He uncovered so much crime within his committees a high schooler studying law would get convictions. He is a CONGRESSMAN not imbued with the power of indictments or prosecutions. This all hat no cattle prattle is just that, over used, overplayed and sophmorish.

You were expecting his committees to receive indictments with an all democratic White House, an all Democratic DOJ, an all Democratic FBI, and oh might I add that when he was conducting these investigations the players in the crime circle today were in power. And you expected his to become Judge Dredd? How quaint.

He hasn’t covered for squat. If anything his committee you may thank for unearthing Hillary’s private email server used as the basis during Trump’s campaign to muddy the waters. I won’t even begin to inform you that while he was a federal prosecutor he never lost a single case. Let that sink in a minute, he never lost a single case. Yet you and others will hop from thread to thread trashing a good mans name having accomplished a microcosm of what this man has done.

Pffft such a sad state

He said he will be going back into courtroom prosecution, that he likes the legal more than the political.

Gowdy does not have the power to decide that. It’s up to Sessions and the President once they move the slime bucket Rosenstein out of the way. I can’t believe he dared to threat Nunes and his committee over the memo.

I doubt if Gowdy will go back to being on of zillions of prosecuting attorneys in an obscure courtroom somewhere amongst the fruited plains.

There was a great song popular after the close of WW 1 when the doughboys were returning from Europe to their towns and hamlets.

The song was titled "How Ya Gonna Keep them Down on the Farm (after they've seen Paree)"?

Think about it !

Then what he could do was nothing. Which means he was a distraction.

Yes that’s right.

Congressional investigations are not appropriate tools for criminal matters.

Good prosecutors are not bullshit artists. Members of Congress are nothing but.

Gowdy was and is part of the establishment. He, like the rest of SC republican politicians, with the exception of now Gov Henry McMaster, were Never-Trumpers. They all supported Jeb Bush and when Trump knocked him out of the race probably voted for Hillary Clinton.
