Perhaps he feels less pressure, believing his enemies have been criminally exposed.

Less pressure, less impulsive striking out.

The change occured when President Trump achieved success by staying quiet and working behind the scenes. The Republicans in Congress were highly impressed and praised him to the hilltops:

Because Trump has had a year to figure out what works and what doesn’t. To be expected from someone who never held political office before, he had to learn the ropes, who to trust, who not to trust, and how far is too far.

I think now he has the understanding and is going to be even more effective this year.

Maybe next he can get Americans out of Afghanistan, once and for all! The Grandaddy of all modern day Sh*t-Holes.
We gain nothing by staying there, nothing but more casualties. Let China have it! It is ‘their turn’ to waste a good Trillion or so.

Because Trump has had a year to figure out what works and what doesn’t.

Indeed. He also has more of his own people in place.

>> the news cycle about his “shithole countries” remark <<

Trump denied saying it. lil Dick Durbin said he said it.

Fake News lives on.

My sentiments precisely. He spoke the other day with a sad demeanor of the “terrible things going on in our country.” The war with the deep state will not be without casualties. In the face of the Nunes memo Sessions, Wray, and Rosenstein each made protestations supporting the Deep State. Except for a few Congressmen, Trump may be alone in this war, even among his own appointees.

I think he’s worried about his family’s safety. He knows way more than we do about threats, etc. It has to be constantly on his mind.

It’s the end of the first quarter and Team MAGA has possession of the walking to the other side of the field to begin the second quarter at the opponent’s 24 yard line. Quarterback looks into the eyes of an already demoralized and shocked head coach and then looks up at the scoreboard and smiles

He does not feel the need to control the message right now.

He is letting the FISA and FBI crap take the stage, as it should.

He is also letting congress stew on DACA. He does not need to say anything right now about that.

He only tweets outrageous / unruly stuff when he needs to distract the fools in the press.

I think you nailed it. I'm surprised that so many observers still don't understand that President Trump thinks and acts strategically. For his entire adult life, Trump has been a sober observer among alcohol-loosed competitors. His feigned lack of self control is a powerful asset.

“Rosenstein sounds like he should be first (fired).”

I used to think that. Now I think he needs to stay, in the “keep your enemies closer” kind of way. If he’s there at work, it’s easier to keep an eye on him. Maybe even SPY on him, and see how he likes it. He must feel like a turd in a punch bowl every work day, assuming that most co-workers are decent people.

Trump accomplished his purpose of getting the bad guys all wee-wee’d up. Now he can rest and concentrate on other things.

President Donald Trump has been relatively subdued in recent weeks — and his poll numbers have spiked

He is learning to tone it down to stop scaring the crap out of everybody. Sencible, but not as entertaining.
